I'm going to set the lash on the valves tonight and get the cams ready to be timed. Hopefully. Does anyone have a sure fire way to install the pins which are inserted on the intake cam journals and hold the distributor drives in place? I am really dreading that. |

Worked on the cams and shimming last night. I'll post pics. Question: anyone know the approximate CFM difference a larger choke will to the carb? As I understand it, a 40DCNF with 32mm chokes yields about 396cfm. Wondering what a 34mm choke would bring. Perhaps all of this is irrelevant anyway as I am swapping the thing to injection once everything is in and running anyway.....blame Mark and his vast injection knowledge knocking carbs and their lame-ness out of the park. |

![]() My software says that at 1.5"Hg: 32mm --427cfm 34mm --482cfm 36mm --540cfm I used the 482 number when I modeled the engine for you, but that may be a bit high because the webers have all that extra sh*t in the air steam that other carbs don't have which probably makes the choke changes a diminishing return game. I know that on a flow bench mounted to a head even with 36mm chokes, the 40DCNF carb wasn't interested in flowing more than 95cfm @10". Switching to the 44DCNF with the 36mm chokes got the number to 105. The same head with a properly sized TB was 113 cfm. | |

Oh I'll drive it a bit and definitely break it in on carbs Then I'll throw them through a window when it comes time to really dial the tuning in lol

Good to see everythings moving along. I don't miss the (entire) weekend that I spent timing my cams. It's a huge milestone when you get that done.

I'll give it 500 miles on break in oil then hit the dyno. I'd really like to see at least 250-260bhp at the wheels. I think it has it in her to make that goal.

You're not far away Mark. And you will undoubtedly have the coolest 308 on the planet. What the heck are you gonna call that thing anyway? 308 with a V12 just doesn't sound right......

The engine is indeed in and the exhaust manifolds and a few other things are bolted up. I'll post pics later. Getting the engine in now is a snap it seems. Floor to in and bolted to engine mounts in under an hour, alone.

Here we go. Floor to installed and bolted to the chassis in under an hour, solo. It's definitely one of those things where when you have done it a couple times it's incredibly (but cautiously) easy. I have since bolted up the manifolds and a few other things. SHould be fired up soon.

| Yeah I'm getting a bit curious about it now, specifically what is it going to sound like now? More stroke, more cam, heavier valve springs, lighter crank tells me it will have a nice 308 sound yet more manly with tons more shriek above 4k. I remember with the P6 cams it sounded like a 308 on crack above 5k as it literally was this beastly un-308 shried sound to 8k. I've heard some 911 bumped to 3.4L and 3.5L with ITBs and they sound lovely too. A good video will definitely not be withheld.....
