That is very very interesting. I wonder if he came to a relatively inexpensive solution with the company he was working with.

The cover would have to be setup differently on the QV due to the alternator mount change from the 2Vs, but it would still be 1000x easier than developing one's own setup...

Ok, here's a real update.

I had a problem with one of my exhaust valves. It was leaking to much when he did a leakdown. Seven of them where between 4-6% and the eighth one was 14%

So more delays.

That is a bummer, but to me this is part of why the 2V cars are underrated. The power difference from 2V to 4V isn't monumental, but doing head work on a 2V is cake walk compared to a 4V.

Besides the obvious that you have half the number of valves, removing and reinstalling the heads is infinitely easier. If I had it to do over again, I'm still not 100% sure I'd get a QV again in light of my tendency for always taking things apart.

No worries Chris, I had the same issue on 2 of my exhaust valves. Pull the head, lap the valve and it was golden.

Thanks guys.

I'm going over there Sunday morning to drop off the oil pan cover and get filled in on progress.

Spring is coming.

The head came back from the machine shop i guess last week so all is looking good.

David had the block attached to the gearbox and all he's waiting for is a couple of shims. And then he'll dial the cams and she should be all set to go home.

I stayed a few hours talking with him and then he says

"You know you still have a long way to go?"

"Yeah i know, i still have to get the valve covers powder coated"

Looking good. You 2V guys have all the fun with your aftermarket pullies and belts.

What else do you have to finish on the car after the engine is back together?

I wish I can leave the cam covers off to show off those nice Pullies and belts.

The only thing I still need to do is the front a-arm bushings and sway bar bushings. Then she'll be all set to roll.

On other news, I contacted Nick Forza on some questions I had on the Tec3 wiring. I wanted to know if I'm going to use any of the wires that plugged to the Digiplexes. He said the only ones I'm going to use from those 2 plugs are one each from them that control the tac. He sent me a couple of pictures but I'm on my iPad.

The other question I have to ask him is what about the gauges. Oil pressure, oil temp, gas, water temp.

Where are the wires for those?

The harness basically splits - the wires for the dash gauges (oil, gas, H2O, etc.) all "Y" off towards the engine just behind the driver's side gas tank. The rest of the harness continues towards the back trunk where it goes to the Digiplex's.

You'll see it when you start going through the wires one by one. Ferrari was good at making the harness pretty easy to follow.

No, those are to plug in a test tool I think. The Y ot T Bret is talking about is in the harness itself (no plug) about right where you're looking but undernieth.....put your head in the wheel well and have a look.

Nope. Remove the wheel and the wheel well on the driver's side and you will find what you seek.
