Chris I have 4 inches from the top of my throttle bodies to the bottom of my deck lid and 2 inches on the right and left side. Knowing that you raised your deck lid 1.5 inch I would think our orginal plan would work. Whats your thoughts?

So we look safe on the front to rear and left to right numbers then? And the height you say 4 inches? So 1/2 inch for the top and bottom of the lexan then we got 3 inches and then I got that extra 1.5 inch of clearance. Hmmm... You also said the filter will sit in a little groove on both the top and bottom. 1/4 inch total on that? Maybe? Looks and sounds good to me. | |

I am going to renege on my last statement, it will not work. We will come up with a different plan.

Your on vacation in Florida and your sad? Don't worry, when you get home and settled in lets get a few more measurements with the template in place. I don't want to make something that looks great but doesn't fit on anything but your shelf. |

Hey guys I want to get this solder Amazon.com: Weller WLC100 40-Watt Soldering Station: Home Improvement what do you think? John said its got to be low watts for the harness. It says it's adjustable from 5-40 watts. |

Chris, I sure wish I had one of those! I have a variety of irons, and they're all cheapies that were bought out of an immediate need, so they're all compromises and they're either too little for the job or too big. I really need to buy a decent one like that with the variable wattage feature. That would be the dog's balls '99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084 High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars. |

I had found a few different prices from $12-$100 so I figured I go for the middle. The next tool, I wanted to ask about is the crimping tool. I called Electromotive and they have theirs at $160. Ouch! I have been doing it the old fashion way, a wrench. Some times the results where......not good. Any recommendation on this? |

Chris is that crimping tool made of gold? It sounds terribly expensive. Have you a link to it? |

| I think every crimping tool I've ever seen must be made of gold as $160 sounds normal. I suspect the issue is that they are so specialized, which means low volume and that means expensive and also means you need 4 or 5 different tools to build any 1 wiring harness ![]() .....so I solder. |

Agree Mark soldering just as good. I looked around and they all seem to be +$160 with some in the $250s...wow. |

I wasn't sure if soldering would be better. I was reading the manual and it says they are "pull to seat terminals" i have to pass the wires thru the connectors. If i solder wont it get deformed, with the solder on it, and then wont fit in the connector? |

Solder is the highest strength lowest resistance connection there is, stick with needle nose pliers and solder, don't waste your money on the crimps. Keep the end of your iron clean by wiping on a wet sponge before you solder or use you pants like I do, just do it quick.
