The only good thing about waiting for the block to get done is buying all the "other" cool stuff that goes with it.

"Customizations to bespoke automobiles to the owner's taste is a longstanding Ferrari tradition among genuine enthusiasts. Perhaps not collectors, but certainly the motorsports enthusiasts whom the cars were to be meant for. The classical Ferrari client didn't look to resale vale, rather the passion, mechanical beauty and enthusiasm that the little cars from the small Italian hamlet were endowed by their creator." -Russ Turner

Those certainly qualify as cool. There's a lot of long weekends ahead, but it'll be worth it.

What's being done to the block? Cleaning up the decks?

I was pulling the motor to do the gearbox, 2nd syncro and a few gears needed replacement, and decided "hey, while it's out lets bump up the compresion"

That was 3 years ago.

So the gearbox got rebuilt, the heads got rebuilt (new SS valves etc) and now waiting for the block to get completed. She's got new liners, new rod bolts and hopefully next week new Wiesco pistons.

He's had it since November 09

Thanks

I would really love not to put the cam covers on.

But as we all know, strange and unwanted debris will find a way to spoil our day. (hey, I made a rhyme)

As some of you know, i'm on stand by with the block.

I called the machine shop to find out if my new pistons showed up (it's been 4 weeks since he sent one out for measurement) but to my surprise, nothings in yet.

So to keep myself entertain, i sent out a picture of the throttle bodies to a friend to do a little photoshop for me. I was thinking of coloring the trumpets. This is what i got back.

What do you guys think?

That's pretty sweet. Most of the guys tend to look down on screens for a street car, but if you don't drive it that often - which most 308 owners don't - I think you can run them for quite awhile before the dust starts to take its toll. That said, it might not be the worst idea to check if there are any cool covers that incorporate some sort of filter.

So, I'm a sucker for bronzish gold and red as a combo... reminds me of the wheels on Ferrari's 70s racers.

My fiancee is keen to remind me that I have horrible taste though in this regard whenever we see a 308 online with those superformance replica 16"s with that combo, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I'll probably have to copy it after I realize that my 1" spacers and inverted TPS (with the plug pointing upwards) don't fit under the bonnet.

Staying with the trumpets in their natural colour looks more in sync then changing to bronzes yellows or reds for that matter.

The ally has a nice clean look to it and would be set of nicely if fitted with a set of black foam air filters.

The above ofcourse is my opinion and given that I am not a colour co ordinator -interior decorator- artist may be worth flochinochinihilipilification.

If my basement looked like that, I'd take part in epic levels of non-productivity. The 308 would never run again.
