Let me ask this, is there anything at all about a pool and volleyball that you can think of that REALLY makes the 2 go together? nothing? I'll give you hint, it involves girls, bikinis and jumping

http://berkeley.intel-research.net/arahimi/helmet/ And only aluminum foil hats were studied, but then that makes your comment more relevant to incogneato's post. Hmm, maybe the original tin foil hats worked better, and ground was lost when aluminum foil was substituted. Could the switch to alumnium foil have ben a government plot all along? Good find! It does say they used equipment borrowed from MITto make the measurements, maybe that why MIT was in my head.... Anyway, I'm going to try to get back into the shop now and get going fixing the head stud holes that broke out of the block and I had to weld.

I finally got back on the car and fixed the 2 head stud holes last night. When I welded the paper thin matal on ther outside, it sunk on the inside, but only on the one side I was welding on....so just sending a drill into the hole would just wipe out the thread on the opposite side becasue a drill bit alway self centers. What I did so make a drill bushing to support the drill bit in the true center and it seemed to work out then re-tap and everything looks right......time to get back to installing the head studs.

Did you go in with the tap drill into the bushing or just use a smaller drill first to get the center and then go in with the tap drill afterwards?

A really unproductive night.....I got 3 of 18 head studs installed. Hopefully the pace will pick up a bit tomorrow.

Looking good. Is Grandpa still there to give you a hand or are they gone? |

Man, the studs are really well aligned. Did you make a tap fixture to square it to the block each time when you tapped the holes?

| I didn't have to because the threads start a couple inches down the hole which is nearly a size on size fit to the tap, so the block itself becomes the tap block. 1 of the end stud is short and the thread star at the top of the hole, that one I tapped in mill.

| Pretty busy weekend but I got a little work done. I finished the rough milling on the 1st cam cover and I’m liking it…now there are holes to be filled, flanges to add and a second cover to do. I also decided to open up the head stud holes a bit because I HATE stuck heads. |

Looks GREAT Mark- glad you're back on the job! BTW- that was ~20 of us from FC roaring past your place on Saturday morning ~10:15am on the "Frosty Balls Rally" organized by JoeZaff. Great fun and we should have stopped in to give you a cheer! |

Glad to see you "back in the saddle" as it were. Hopefully with your new and improved heating/cooling system you can weld incessantly without having to incur the wrath of the upstairs denizens... Rick
