guys, I'v spotted a car I'm interested in and need to check the original details about the car, ie year of manufacture, original colour etc...... I checked out this website: Ferrari 355 Registry - Home Page However the details have to be pre-registered by owners in that website.... The car I have in mind's VIN is not registered and I need to know : Is there any other websites officially or unofficially by Ferrari where i can obtain the details of the car online with the VIN number....thanks ps: the car was imported new and the original dealership has closed down and the current dealership does not have info on cars bought pre 2000 or something...... |

Not online but the current dealership you mention can look it up for you on Ferrari's own systems. Jonathan |

and told me the car i'm looking at, a F355B left the factory in 1996. I just wanted to verify that the year of manufacture as claimed by the current owner is what it is. I dont know how many hits this might still get but how true is the manifold and valve guide burnout stories true? The Ferrari dealer here told me this "don't believe everything you read on the forum online!!!" I also read in one website that there is a recall for all 355s for a faulty fuel line..true? |

Exhaust manifolds are an issue with these cars. One of the contributing factors according to some owners is the exhaust by pass valve which creates more heat in the system when operating closed. The valve guides also become an issue over time. I change oils on mine every year and after 48 000 kms have no issue with valves. I also do not drive it like I stole it and untill the temperatures are correct I keep the revs low. I have equally removed the bypass valve from the exhaust. The fuel hose issue is on a campaign so the dealer should be able to tell if it has been done. If not so they will do it N/C. Hope this helps |

dear peter, the exhaust bypass valve....what's the intended use for it and there is no detriment in removing them? so i suppose the manifolds need to be removed in order to get them checked? carbon, i'll get it registered in the registry if i get the car...still not confirmed.... |

| I don't check the registry very often, and I'm more interested in providing you with whatever history I might have on the car before you get it.
