I seem to have the opposite problem shifting into second gear on my 308 GTSI. When cold, I can shift into second beautifully. Although, as soon as the car begins to warm, 2nd gear is impossible without grinding. I've tried Redline gear oil with no results. Any ideas where I should begin?

Sir- While I'm no expert, I'd think worn, syncro. Good test- does it shift into 2nd cleanly with double clutch? If so, then time to rebuild/replace tranny. Good luck, bill |

Dinos and cold 308s often use a 1-3 shift strategy. Will work for you until you can address the problem. Some Redline oils are too slippery for 308 transaxles and will cause the synchro rings to be too slick to do their job, which requires friction to match revs. This sounds more like your problem than a worn synchro ring or you would be getting a real crunch going into second when cold. Not sure which Redline you used, but do some research and make sure you are using the correct one. I am running Valvoline full synthetic 75W-90 in my car.
