Default 355 Exhaust bypass valve refurbishment

Having had my bypass valve rattling like a machine gun I contacted an engineer friend of mine, I removed it from the car and he dismantled it and fitted new stainless steel bushes to the body machined to fit the current shaft, reassembled and refitted back in the car it is as quiet as a new one. If anyone else with a 355 has a noisey bypass valve and wants to have it repaired he is quite willing to do it for the cost of £200 a big saving on the £480 required for a new one.
His name is Matt of Format Fabrications in Horndean Hants tel number 02392571181, he will need the valve for a week.

I just remove the exhaust valve and program the ECU . The car sounds better and has more power with the ECU upgrade.
Thanks
Alex.

Only for 2.7 cars or can you reprogram the 5.2 as well?

Alex- Does the reprogramming prevent the lean burn problem removing the bypass valve can cause? Have heard several warnings about not overriding the bypass valve on F355s. Not a problem on the later Ferraris where the bypass valves were moved to the other side of the mufflers.

Just finished a 1998 355 ( 5.2 ). I removed the third valve and programed the ECU.
The client loved on the sound and the horse power increase. He said it was like driving another car.
The car already had a tubi , hyper flow cats and BMC air filters. We programed the car with these upgrades, running on 94 octane.
Thanks

Alex.
