Default New Owner ! F355 GTS in 100% Excellent Original Condition

I've spent YEARS (about 5-6) searching and researching and I finally found the absolute BEST of the BEST, for what I want. A 1997 Ferrari F355 GTS. An absolute GEM ! It even has the window sticker, original 355 brochure, covers/tools, etc... It's 100% Ferrari GEM ! and No Sticky !

My friends are trying to talk me into placing a Capristo or Tubi exhaust. Since it's totally original and 100% Ferrari maintained to perfection, I'm very hesitant (but I want the sound)...

I placed Tubi on a new Maserati and now the Engine light comes on often. It's usually sensors or exhaust related.

if you have a Pre-F430 and have owned it for a long time, placed the exhaust system and kept driving, what issues did you have and how long before they resolved and leveled out ?

I'm so excited. I have to wait a week for ApplewoodMotors to transport from Stephen Barney's dealership to my home.

I can NOT wait !

Thank you !!! I'm beside myself. My previous Ferraris were shared and I rarely drove any of them, I stuck to Aston Martin, Lotus and Maserati for daily drivers. I'm just now to the age where I can get nice insurance and truly have my OWN Ferrari, so this is my absolute FIRST FERRARI that is absolutely mine ! If you could see, I'm smiling ear to ear right now.

I wrote the owner of FerrariLife's forum, a private message, about how to get an owner's sticker and register my new child.

Here are the details:

My Name: David
Model: F355 GTS
Year: 1997
Trans: 6-Speed Manual
Mileage: 26,253
Color: Rosso/Tan
Exhaust/Engine Mods: None - 100% Original
Previous Owners: 2
Notes: Completely original with original window sticker, original 355 brochure, complete car and completely gorgeous. Only modification is the Stereo, it's switched for Sirius/XM with iPhone/iPod. Originally purchased June 9th, 1997 in NY and lived in Ohio. The first owner kept the GTS for over 7 years, almost 8 years. After searching for too many years (I think I was going on 5 years of searching/researching), I finally found THE ONE. I purchased my first Ferrari F355 GTS in excellent, complete condition, Today, August 9th, 2011, from an absolute enthusiast dealer named Stephen Barney.
SN: 108543
Purchased: July 22, 2011 - August 9, 2011
Engine-Out Major: July 15, 2011
Miles Since Purchase: 0

Worthy of Daily Driving, certainly !

No Sticky !

The dealer made this purchase an absolute experience. Highly recommended !

Thanks Alex, I love the Capristo sound. I'll keep you in mind. What was it installed on and why is it not installed today ?

David

I almost posted it earlier... but when I saw those photos I knew it had to be from Sport Auto. Steve's driveway is quite recognizable!

Simply stunning car. Enjoy !

Again nice, I like the TS over the spider and the stick is a better choice IMO.

NICER still it's major only a week before you got it.

ANDREW---slap an OWNER's Sticker on that moniker.

Congratulations.

Make sure you keep the F355 on a battery conditioner if you are not going to drive it for more than a few days.

Congrats David,

That is a beautiful car in a classic color combo and worthy of every bit of your excitement.IMO the 355 GTS is one of the best looking Ferrari's to ever leave the factory and has aged so gracefully that it still looks up to date.It will still turn heads and have people staring wherever you go.It combines a classic Ferrari targa look with gorgeous styling and a well laid out simple interior.Did I mention a jewel of an engine that screams all the way to 8500 rpm's and will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up? I am sure you know all that having done your research as I have been doing.Don't have one yet but it is coming soon(Giallo Modena(Yellow)is my choice) and I will be just as excited as you when it happens.I recommend having the headers checked if you have not already or perhaps the previous owner did, given the fact he is a true enthusiast. The results of a cracked header can be disastrous if the motor leans out.I believe some of the early cars had problems with valves and/or valve guides but I think that year is OK.Just a suggestion as I believe in due diligence on potential problems to avoid any costly repairs that would spoil the fun.

If all is well, just go out and enjoy as much as you can as it will be worth every penny you spent!

P.S. Go with the Capristo exhaust! If you listen to some of the videos on Youtube it is mind blowing to say the least.A cocktail of Heroin and Crack Cocaine could not match the feeling of that noise!

BTW I DO NOT condone drug use!Just Ferrari ownership for the true adrenaline junkie!

Default Exhaust

I have a Tubi on my 355. Granted I've only owned it for about a month. I absolutely love the sound and it does a great job of not being overly loud when you don't want it to be. I so far haven't had any lights come on and I've put nearly 1500 miles on the car. Hope this helps!

Very hard to find a GTS, let alone in the condition you found yours.
I would have to say waiting and searching for 4 years paid off.
She is a beauty

This is such a happy day, in about 12 hours, my child will be brought to me by the Applewood Transport Stork !

I've been staying busy, reading these messages keeps me so excited. 12 hours to go !!! I've made room and conditioned the garage !

Do you know of a great treatment for the Targa top ? It looks brand new and it's original, I'll be driving in Florida so, lots of sun...

Do you remember your first Ferrari ? If you had to wait for delivery, were you so excited you threw yourself into work ? I've had all kinds of super-cars, there is nothing like the Ferrari ! Driving this one is such a dream, it's so tight and truly corners like a train on rails !

Yes, this does. Thank you ! I'm thinking about this upgrade... The sound is so great in the Maserati, I know it will be magnificent in the 355... I plan on driving the 355 for a while before deciding. I was listening to Capristo as well.. Capristo seems to be seamless for newer models, 06+... Tubi seems like the way to go. I'll research.. Thank you for posting this. I appreciate your help.
