Default 308/308GT4/Mondial - Tall People

Hello, my first post here, would welcome any opinions. I'm looking to get a 308 or Mondial but am 6'5" and struggle to fit in many cars. I've sat in a 308GTS and found it very tight on leg and head room, not really practical unless there are any modifications that people have found to work. So I've been looking at adverts for 308GT4's and Mondials. I sat in a Mondial years ago and remember thinking there was enough room, but I prefer the GT4 but haven't got to sit in one yet. Generally I struggle with leg room rather than headroom.

Any opinions on how these models vary and which is likely to be worth travelling to look at would be really useful.

cheers

Suggest you PM CGT, he is close to your height and has owned a wide range of Ferraris from a 308, Mondi, up to the 360.

At 6 4" I find that my lhd 308 GTB fits like a glove. With the backrest cranked back I find a comfortable seating position with more room than I had in my rhd 512BB.

A friend of mine is 6"4 and owns a 308GT4 and he has driven it for 10 hour+ drives.

In general, if you're tall but not too wide you can find a way to be comfortable in most Ferraris. If you're tall and heavily built with wide shoulders or hips, then it becomes a problem more quickly. The previous owner of my 550 is only really comfortable in a 612, although he is not overweight.

But he is the only person I've met who's uncomfortable in a 550. The price difference between your options and a 550 is shrinking, perhaps it is possible for you to stretch to it? Not that there's anything wrong with the other choices. But it is particularly legroom that is much better in modern Ferraris compared to the older ones.

Thanks for the comments, really useful. Looks like it's not impossible but I need to look at the options to find what suits.

Went yesterday to look at GT4 that was not far away. Headroom was much better than 308GTS, and legroom was not perfect but quite reasonable + it looks like you could move the seat back an extra 1.5 to 2 inches which would make it ideal. Was also surprised how much elbow room there was, and how good the visibilty was, impressed. Unfortunately the condition of the car was not what I was expecting given the asking price...
