Gentlemen- While removing my engine deck lid, I broke the hood prop. lesson is ask for help big dummy. Subsequently, I searched but could not find replacement part for 30 year old car. I then laid broken piece of aluminum against a piece of stainless steel scrap I had and started to duplicate. Should have taken pictures but not only looks good but works like original. Not bragging, thinking that this may be helpful to others. Simply lay old part on new steel, trace outline, and start cutting and trimming. Lots of file work but no machine work. useful on lots of parts, latches,arms/cams in distributors, most anything made of 'pot metal' that just pulls or pushes. Not even a new idea but one I've not seen discussed. If I can be of help I certainly would. bill ward |
