hoses!

Hello folks,just a quick one,whilst out in traffic recently i was horrified to see coolant all over the back window and a big pool of coolant under the car!The car is a 1982 gtsi and the questions are what is the red chamber on top of the engine called?the hose under the red thing is perished and spurting coolant out when warm(sat in traffic)middle of the gauge,never goes higher usually a lot lower.the trouble is on a few diagrams myself and the specialist has looked at ,it doesnt show any hoses there!they T-off under the chamber one to each side of the inlet manifold and are rubber.the guy sent me the 308gtsi hose kit and i think there included but is hard to compare,as you can't see very well under red thing.also the red thing sits on what looks like a rubber seal,is there also a gasket if i take this off?that i may need to purchase before taking everything off! help!thanks folks and i hope your all enjoying your motors like i enjoy mine!

Thanks for the tips guy's!Being in the uk I ordered a 308 hose kit from superformance and i got a local non-specialist to fit them.there was three small leaks one under the red thing in the v of the engine one hose on waterpump and one down the side!After pressure test was declared healthy and i roared home in the dark,-2 centigrade with the roof off! thats living!the guy even went round her with such care,tightening this and checking that i was really impressed!I would get a specialist for the bigger jobs but he will more than do for all the other jobs i cant do!
