Default 250gt restoration project

Hi All,

I normally lurk on the 308 pages, but a colleague told me about this auction next week.

http://www.graysonline.com.au/sale.asp?SALE_ID=64065

Restoration project might be a bit of a stretch - it looks like a body with no chassis/running gear.

Auction closes May 18. Interesting to see how it goes.

Cheers

Evidently a car broken to create a replica (GTO? T/R? TdF? Calif? SWB?)
It was originally a P/F coupe (I'm sure that the far more knowledgable members here will be able to supply the original sn).
It will not be able to be titled (at least in it's original guise).
So value IMO will be negligable.
Restoration project? No way, sorry.

Got to agree with Al.
Surely without the chassis, engine and running gear , its a Pininfarina not a Ferrari.

Well beyond a restoration project. Might make an interesting sculpure for a Ferrari themed house.

Enzo believed he sold engines and tossed in the body, hence you would be buying the free gift with engine purchase. Financially you would be much better off starting with a rolling chassis, engine, and gearbox and building a new body vs this situation.

I agree with you all - hard to see someone with a gto replica restoring it back to a 250.

So the question is, what are the top three uses you could put this body to?

My suggestions:
  • A (large) coffee table
  • Hang it from the roof of your garage and tell your friends its a project 'you'll get round to'
  • A chicken coup(e)

Wait until all the 250 series cars have been made into 250 GTO replicas and then restore this using a plentiful and cheap 250 GTO replica - you'd then have the only 250 GT PF in existence.

Id opt for the hanging from roof or splattering it with a paintball gun and using as a diner table....in a theme place
