Default Color ???

Been keeping track, looking good so far. Let us know if you're redoing interior also. Have you decided on the color yet, Boxer ? In person, I have seen quite a range myself during my search, such as black, yellow, burgundy, dark green. Let us know when you decide. If I were do redo mine, I would omit red and yellow and settle for a color that would give me that late 60's/early 70's impression. w/ smiles Jimmy

Have not made a final decision on the color yet but am leaning towards a flat black.

Flat black would definitely be unique

Default Black

Attached is the actual black Daytona that I went to see in person back few years ago. This car's been w/ the Autosportdesigns in Conn. USA http://www.autosportdesigns.com/Sale...s.aspx?ID=1536 for quite sometime but looks like it finally found a new home. See what you think. w/ smiles Jimmy

The more Daytona's I see in black, the more I am leaning in this direction. Thanks Jimmy.

Deep Black (non-metalic) with lashings of lacquer for a glossy shine would look good for sure. Jimmys picture No 6 looks fantastic!

Thought about a stripe? ...incidentally are you going to keep the wheels the same colour?

Which was not a GTO.... (Datsun based replica, and a horrible one at that).

This, however, is a black GTO: Brandon Wang's car, 4219GT. Gorgeous. Photocredits unknown.

As for your Daytona, Boxer, a dark classic colour would be great (I would only use the original Ferrari palette of 1968-1972). My personal short-list would be:

1. Rosso Cordoba 106-R-136. Very, very, very dark bordeaux red. Stunning.
2. Blu Sera Metallizzato 106-A-018.
3. Nero 20-B-50
4. Blu Scuro 20-A-357
5. Prugna Metallizzato 20-R-549.

I think Rosso Cordoba, as it looks on this 275GTB, would be a clear winner for me.

See this page for a colour chart with pics. http://www.dinorestoration.com/resources/dinocolors/

I think I am going to pass on the stripe. The wheels will be returned to normal "road" alloy color. The gold looks good but only on a full Grooup 4 spec racing Daytona.

Boxer, after all this good paint work, I imagine you will never allow anybody tell you "I will not consider buying your car because you repainted it".

Great work.

Many thanks. The 20-B-50 Nero is very tempting.

Although i already know that the car was a replica because its common knowledge in the Ferrari comunity.
I am interested to know why the said replica GTO is a "horrible" one. Based purely on this short film clip of Vanilla Sky only http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dPzFnTUi5ew What am i looking for? I think that the rear wheel arch gap is large, but other than than i dont know. Anyone?

Great work.
Almost all Daytonas have been repainted at one time or another. Amost impossible for them not to be given that they are 40 year old cars now.

You would think that Tom Cruise could at least get a real GTO with the amount of $ he gets paid, but then again this is the guy who dumps Nicole Kidman and then Penelope Cruz! Go figure!

Good call!

The chrome Boranis also look good.

True, would be an awesome colour. Do you know the original colour, Boxer? No plans in restoring it to how it came out of Maranello?

Seriously? Just compare the two pictures you've posted - the top one doesn't look anything like the one below it. The shape of the nose is all wrong, the nose is too narrow, it sits about 100 miles above the deck, the tyres and rims are completely incorrect, and it doesn't have a Ferrari engine which would be already good enough to qualify it as rubbish. But it even goes on: just have a look at the horrible rear haunches and the dismal interior with semi-retro instrument panel, ugly steering wheel and even worse gear shift without the gate on this link: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2518942

I think it's clear what I think of this car. I don't have a problem with recreations but something like this is what gives a bad taste in the mouth after uttering the word "replica".
