Default 250 GTO documentary preview

A preview of former GTO owner Stephen Mitchell's documentary on this famous Ferrari

http://www.carandgarage.com/watch.php?v_id=1066

I'm new to the site and only stumbled upon it while seaching for 250 GTO vids to satisfy my 20+ year old addiction for this very very special piece of art. I simply can not wait for the documentary to be available in full length!

Thank you, FredrikB! I attended the 45th GTO anniversary event organized by Moët & Chandon in Sonoma with my daughter. She had never seen a GTO other than in photographs and I had never seen so many in one place at the same time. What began as informal home movie clips developed into some reflections and observations that propelled me towards a full-length documentary on the GTO and its owners past and present. I hope you enjoyed the sights and sounds.

Well, if it isn't Mr ‘ground floor’ himself =) Thank you very much for posting that teaser on youtube. As it happens I had just poured a glass of Talisker and finished re-reading the piece on Steve Mcqueens Lusso in Classic & Sports Car when I felt the urge to do some youtubing and low and behold there it was!

Where and more importantly when can we humbly expect the full length feature to appear on the shelves?

Fantastic, what a sight all those GTO's must have been. The noise on the video is great, but it must have been heavenly at the circuit.
Please post some more

I, too, savored that McQueen article. Steve was driving the Lusso the night I was introduced to him. I will begin pre-sales at Cannes in a couple of months. Likely it will take several months to do this properly. What you saw in the preview was little more than home movies with a little post production, but how often do we get the chance to see so many GTOs together in action?

I've watched the video 5 times now, the soundtrack is wonderful.
I noticed that some of the cars had a different rear end and rear buttress, similar to the 250 LM. Were these cars LM's or variants of the GTO? Some of the 330 GTO's had a Lusso rear end, I seem to remember Boxer posted some photo's about a year ago?

Thank you! The GTO was meant to be replaced in 1964 by the 250LM, however it was denied homologation so Ferrari rebodied the GTO (now referred to as the Series I) and the GTO64 (the Series II) looking like a front-engined LM was born. It had the same mechanicals as the Series I but a wider track.

These were not 330GTOs, which looked like the 250 GTO with a bigger power bulge on the hood, but 330LMBs--a truly exciting proposition!

Does anyone have this in a format that I can download, or be e-mailed? I won't be able to access YouTube until April and can't wait that long!

Krasnavian, thanks for clearing up the styling differences between the Series 1 & 2. If I'm honest, I prefer the series 1, which is strange as the 250 LM is my favorite Ferrari. My personal opinion is that the 250 LM is beautifully proportioned with it's mid engined layout, whereas the series 2 GTO's bonnet looks too long with the LM back end, whereas the series 1's swooping coupe back end suits the long bonnet. However, it still looks and sounds stunning.
How many series 2's and 330 GTO / LMB's were made?

Now you are asking Archie !

How many series 2's and 330 GTO / LMB's were made?

The first '64 bodied GTO was 5571GT, followed by 5573GT and 5575GT.

3413GT, 4091GT, 4399GT and 4675GT were rebodied with '64 bodies.

4713GT is the 250 GTO with the 330 LMB style body.

The 330 GTO's are 3673SA, 3765LM and 4561SA all with 250 GTO style bodies.

The 330 LMB's are 4381SA, 4619SA and 4725SA.

So 3 or 7, 3 and 3

You are well informed! My impressions on owning a GTO can be found here on Ferrari Life at: http://www.ferrarilife.com/library/v...ticle.php?id=3

Seeing and hearing them is one thing, owning and driving, another.
You are a lucky man to have been there.

My first Ferrari was a Lusso. After the GTO I had other 250s--Lussos, a Farina coupe. I also had a Dino 206SP. The GTO was a world apart.

I'm looking forward to discovering the 360 Modena; my experience--apart from a 308QV and a 328--has been strictly vintage.

Dear Andrew,

thanks for that - but Krasnavian had already given me another download location in a PM. It took about 5 hours to download, but what a pleasure to watch. Those machines are just mind boggling. It reminded me a little of Alain de Cadenet's Ferrari DVD, when you see machines like this in action you can just smell the petrol!
