Indeed, thanx a bunch Bryan. For someone like myself, reading such stories' just like a fantasy world and what a living legend is made of. Besides, altho I have met Stephen only once, I have nothing but nice things to say. Such a gentleman with sophistication, class, and cool. Thanx again. w/ smiles Jimmy

One of the coolest places in one of the coolest times in history. In a GTO. Great article, unbelievable footage. Dreams are made of this. Am lost for words. Magnificent!

What can you say - one of the few stories that cannot go into hyperbole...

That is without a doubt some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen. It's funny how that whole life style is still such a strong part of life in SoCal. When I lived in San Diego my friends and I use to hang out at the local Denny's or McDonald's with our cars and go drive around, occasionally making our way into the East County hills for a fast run. Unfortunately the popular cars of our time are Acura Integra GS-R or Type-R, Honda Civic SI, Nissan Sentra SE-R, Mazda RX-7 turbo, Toyota Celica AllTrac, VW Golf GTI etc etc.

Of course I was always odd man out with my Porsche 924. Everyone else want to drag race, I wanted to run through the canyons.

HAHAHA...you're not missing much. They don't conjure up half the emotions seeing the old clips of the GTO's do.

I thought I was lucky learning how to drive in a 61 Corvete in 63/64 in Palos Verdes, but that is nothing compared to Stephen's GTO adventures and actual ownership. It took me another 10+ years to get my first Ferrari (almost a Ferrari to quote Enzo), but it certainly was not a GTO. The sad part, though, was that I paid $10.6K for the Dino and could have bought a 250 LM Kirk F White had for sale for $9800. If only.

Those videos are a hoot: Obvious in the old grainy film, yet would like to see a digital reproduction play of them. Lots of neat details difficult to see.

Great article and accompanying video, the narration really makes it special, 60's So Cal sounds like a wonderful carefree time in automotive history, one of the GTO owners sold his car for a new Maserati Ghibli—wonder if he still has it, one of my all time favorites, pure 60's Italian muscle....
