Damn, that color is wonderful on the car! Brings out the elegance of the lines while still looking slightly aggressive. Just not enough stone chips on the front yet, but it looks like you'll get there in no time. Enjoy! |

Amasing workmanship and attention to detail from Al. The finish is flawless, you must be a very proud man Tony. The car looks amazing I really get a lot from seeing these restorations as it gives me great pointers when working on my own. "When I was a boy, I had a dream. How is the 365 GTC running these days? Did you get the carbs sorted?

it was the seals in the clutch master/slave cylinders that went - something went bang under the bonnet and the clutch pedal dropped to the floor just after setting off for Cliveden (2 miles from home).... Drove a few more miles gently and realised it was the clutch rather than the engine, as by fully depressing clutch pedal I could just get the clutch plates far enough apart to change gear. That left me with a choice: 1) turn around / pull over and get my precious car shipped to the mechanic to fix the problem, having driven only 5 miles in the last 6 months due to restoration 2) live with it - it's an old car and if I only ever drove it when everything was working properly I would still have petrol in the tank from my first fill up. Obvious risk was of making whatever had gone bang get much worse... THe need for speed won the day and I got there and back being forced to time engine speeds on gear changes better than I would normaly ever have to do - great learning experience in itself, Mechanic was somewhat suprised that the cyclinders had failed as he only put new ones in last year. Then followed another 3 sets of cyclinders from one of the main UK importers of parts, and every one of them blew as he fitted then pressurised them - the whole batch appeared to be faulty and we were just working our way along the parts on the shelf. He then sourced cylinders from another importer (i.e. different shelf) and car has been running strong all season since cheers tony |

Tony- She is really pretty and just about as quick as a Daytona. Glad to hear you got your hydraulics sorted. New thread to me since I did not get here until August. I think I read somewhere that it can pace a Daytona up to 100mph and then the extra bhp in the Daytona help it pull ahead, so in the real world she is planty fast enough for me! I had mine up to 135mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans Classic last year mixing it with the E-types, but no Daytonas to play with. What I do remember is that the noise was incredible - I was screaming, my wing man was screaming, and above us both, so was the V12! | |
