Thought I'd post some recent pics of Daytona #13745. I know I have posted some in the past, but cannot recall where. Thought it would be simpler to start a new thread. This was also taken with the "better" camera (Pentax). w/ smiles Jimmy

Great looking Daytona Jim. One of my favorite Ferraris. Question-- why do you have the black accent sides and back? Do they still make the material for the fuzzy dash? Docf |

I've always been partial to the plexi-nose Daytonas. Marvelous! |

What I find so cool when I see these pics is that dashboard - it's SO Ferrari in the '70ies (or really, in the late '60ies). So why, oh why, oh why, does that dashboard look like the 308? The Boxer is completely different, and looks much more like the Testarossa dashboard. In fact, when you look back with the benefit of hindsight, the boxer looks like it's ahead of its time, and the 308 like it's behind its time. Thanks for the pics, Jimmy - I always find it amazing to learn more about CONTEXT. The one thing that most people forget when they think about cars, but which, if you take the time, actually is one of the most fascinating aspects of automotive history. Onno |

Jimmy, By far the best pictures I have seen of your Daytona. Like the 275 GTB, in near perfect condition. Just beautiful.

Jimmy, you did it again. Made my jaw drop, I mean. Another great looking classic! Love the plexiglass nose, love the colour (even better than the yellow ), love the car, period. Interesting observation by Onno on the dash vis-à-vis those on the Boxer and 308. I agree, yet taken together with the wooden steering wheel it still looks a tad more classical than the 308's to me. A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course. That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mister F. |

| That black accent lines done by the previous owner. As for the fuzzy dash, I understand it is obtainable still. w/ smiles Jimmy

Collectively, thank you all for the kind words. Since my purchase three years ago, no serious issues surfaced. Some of the things that needed attentions were like changing the tierods, changing the battery wire lines, fixing the reverse light that did not light up, changed to new tires (Michelin). Otherwise, she is running happy. The drivetrain, engine, clutch, etc. seem to be in excellent condition. No issues so far. w/ smiles Jimmy

I've been told by experts that mouse hair was actually the cheapest and worst form of leather available back in the early '70ies and that it was used on Daytona's and Dino's simply because Enzo wanted to save some money during the oil crisis. I doubt that theory a little bit - why was it changed to leather for the 365 BB during the height of the crisis? But perhaps he was reacting to complaints of customers. It's certainly true that leather is more reflective and produces glare in the windscreen, so why change at all? The mouse hair dash was only standard on the Daytona and Dino. My Boxer, in case you were wondering, will be restored to its original black leather as there is no mention of mouse hair in the factory records (which means 99% certain it had black leather). And in any case, what it has now is 100% not original. It's great to work with people who have direct access to the Ferrari factory records - this way the car will be as original as possible. | Thanx for your kind words, Andrew. Yes, time flies. The car seems to be fine, but I am not sure of my own body and mind. Seems like I am rapidly going down south, feels that way, at least. w/ smiles Jimmy

| Thank You, Bill. Unfortunately, I am just an average driver who probably cannot make the best use of such powerful V12, which comes alive north of 100mph and 4500rpm. With a max speed limit of only 80 kph (that is like 55mph ?), and speed detector radars and other "traps",...hard to enjoy the best of her. However, simply revving up the rpm, at say 2nd or 3rd gear alone can give me a glimpse of the potential. Daytona is a brutal machine with immense power on tap and the response is razor sharp. I have yet to know her better, still. Thanx again. w/ smiles Jimmy
