Default 1968 365 GT 2+2 On Offer

On offer from Mike Sheehan...

We are pleased to offer 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 s/n 11199. This Platinum-winning 365 GT 2+2 is only the 26th of 809 Queen Mothers made. It's also a Euro-spec car so no emissions equipment and, with a build date of January 4, 1968, smog exempt almost everywhere. Ideal for long distance travel, this car is equipped with air conditioning, power windows, power door vent windows and variable-ratio power steering. This multiple award winning 365 GT 2+2 is a consistent 95+ point car and an excellent driver. Priced right at $129,000 O.B.O.

This beautiful Queen Mother was restored about 10 years ago and so has excellent Nero paint over a very straight body. Recent interior and parts include a full new medium_red leather interior in 2006, stainless steel exhaust, new alternator, rebuilt CV joints, modern electric cooling fans, correct fuel lines, new engine mounts and oil lines. Recent rebuild work includes carburetors, front brakes, distributors and AC. Everything works including the clock and the period Blaupunkt radio. This Queen Mother even has the correct under-shroud under the radiator. S/N 11199 comes with the full set of correct Campagnolo 10-hole alloy wheels and a second set of four "star" Cromodora wheels, all w/Pirelli P4000 tires. Also comes with a full set of tools (except for correct pliers), tool bags, manual pouch, manuals plus other literature. Only 54,055 KM or 33,514 miles. This is easily one of the top Queen Mothers in the US. It has an extremely strong engine and pulls like a freight train.

The 365 GT 2+2 was built for the sporting enthusiast with friends or children and gives the quintessential 1960s vintage Ferrari experience with the last of the curvaceous Pininfarina-bodied grand tourers, powered by the final iteration of the Colombo V-12 two-cam engine. The interior is roomy, and will functionally sit two adults and two children for long distance touring.

Default nice photos

I was there for that photoshoot, in fact, I took those photos. That was a very nice car, classic motor and great sounds. It was fun talking with Mr Sheehan about exactly what he wanted in images and then even more fun to talk with Carbon about how to play with the images.

regards

ken

sorry I am late to the party. Yes, that was my car which I owned for about 10 years. It is now with a multiple-Ferrari owning gentleman in Santa Monica.

I have a set of extra owners and parts manuals, if anyone is looking to buy.

Mike and Carbon had it sold w/in three days of the original email advertising the car being sent to Mike's subscriber e-mail list. I got within 4% of the asking price. Ken took all the great pics, although we had to call the cops on a troublesome 328 that interrupting the shoot! Now I hear he's a moderator on a Ferrari website . . .

Nice to see many well-known 'faces' around here!

I see that Klemantaski provided you with some inspiration, Bryan! You're very privileged your dad has a car to create that photo with (and then to think he could have shot it in period, too!). Very nice avatar.

thanks, Onno! The un-Klemantaski part of that photo was that we were following a 1930-something Cadillac who casually strolled up hills at about 8mph . . . . Unfortunately, the Mondial does not have a 8mph in any gear; David Seielstad wrote a nice letter about the Mondial's clutch at Pebble 2008 in the most recent Cavallino (#173, pp 29-30).

Not quite the same as having Peter Collins at the wheel, then.

I need to sign up for Cavallino - bought a couple of issues at Goodwood and it's a great magazine for Tifosi.
