I found this part very interesting as on ower Ferraris, we have to make very frequent oil changes. This is rather a clever system where one part is permanently replacing the current plug and gasket (no need to replace the gaskets and plugs at each oil change). The second part just plugs in and allows the oil to drain out through a hose. I haven't checked the thread sizes yet as I'm currently far away from my car but I guess this would work for both plugs on a F430? ![]() ![]() ![]() Delivery: - Valve body, CNC precision turned part made of high quality steel - Copper seal - Hose connector, CNC precision turned part made of high quality steel - High quality hose 40cm long - Protection cover made of aluminum, anodized - Illustrated Manual The advantages at a glance: •* Easy handling due to quick release •* Drain valve can not be lost •* No risk of burns from hot oil •* Seal change is not necessary •* Sump thread is spared •* Double outlet protection (protective cap and valve) •* Connection to suction possible •* Optimal application for discharge sampling or trapping •* Protective cover against loss through O-ring •* Change oil without tools * Last edited by StefVan; 06-24-2012 at 10:05 AM. |

I had that system from oil changers on my daily drivers about 15 years ago. In conjunction with their siphon system and bottom suction on the plug it did ok for the daily low end changes as it was quick with low end help. I would not use on a Ferrari as it does not drain completely the grime nor allow adequate inspection. Regardless of thread strip possibility. Doing it carefully will prevent strip.

Thanks Rik for your feedback. I was also wondering if such system would allow a complete drain and found their answers on this question: Can the complete oil flow out through the oil drain valve? Is the oil drain valve screwed into the oil pan out higher than the lowest point of the sump and flows from it is not the complete oil? Not every oil pan is the same. The thread of the oil drain bolt into the oil pan is not standardized, so there is no uniform length. That is why we have chosen a compromise, which in most cases no difference in terms of the amount of residual oil, compared to the conventional drain plug. The threaded length of the stahlbus-oil drain valve is 12mm. The engagement in the oil pan is attached through the use of copper gasket around 10mm. Thus it generally disappears completely in the bore of the oil pan out and is not higher. |
