Default Scuderia light weight (mp3/ipod) sound installation?

I am trying to find a light weight sound installation for my Scuderia. My car didn't come with the radio and I like it that way. But I would like to have a little distraction when driving to and from the racetrack.

I have been trying to find a solution involving a small amplifier, an extra pair of speakers and my iPhone with spotify, but can find anything out of the box.

I could go with a single amplifier and using the ear plug as input through RCA connection. But I would still need a way to switch the amplifier on and off. There are tons of gadgets for the ipod/iphone, but I cant find a solution to this particular problem. Has anyone else found a solution this this?

What I"ve done is use the existing speakers, amp, with a bluetooth from my droid. I get better reception than actual RADIO.

But you still have the head unit, right? I want a solution without the head unit. Just a ipone/mp3, an amplifier and the speakers.

Not sure what you mean by head unit.

iHome makes several examples which I used [go to ebay search iHome bluetooth speaker, there are some with outputs too]. Most come with a power to the cig lighter, and has both bluetooth AND a mini-plug [not RCA you should not have an RCA type on the phone but a 1/4mini]. It was flawless, albeit, I have to turn on, tune in, my radio station. Typically just a three step process:

- flip switch to speaker,
- plug in speaker [in not wanting to go through the bluetooth setup]
- tune in preset on droid/iPhone

am I missing something? These speakers can chain too.

Johan, your amplifier can be simply switched on by an accessories feed or ignition feed from the fuse box, the amp will draw very little current in stand by mode. If you wish it only to power up when listening to music then a audio signal sensing relay or circuit is required.

Your iPhone can be connected through a 3.5mm jack to phono cables and the volume controlled by the variable volume of the iPhone, simple

This is what I am looking for but I dont know how to get the audio signal sensing relay to work. I will try to make a search for that and see what solutions is out there. An amplifier with built in functionality would be great...

Thanks!
