Gary- As far as I know, all the speedos were black, except for those worn by European male swimmers. For both the contemporary Superamerica and F430, black, yellow, and red tachometers were available, and the only difference is the color of the tach face.

Rik- Seems like on the latest cars, yellow was free and white cost extra, but could be wrong.

On the F430, I do not see any charge for red or yellow tachometer on my option lists, and yellow was the only color available on the CS.

On the Superamerica, a carbon fiber instrument panel was standard, and you got your choice of colors for the tachometer, I believe, but do not have documentation.

A little research. Yellow or red tach on a California is ~$750.

On a serious note, they both appear on the cars specification list as an optional extra, together with the likes of brake caliber colour and seat design!
It's more of a personalisation thing other that anything else.

Harry- Thought I had seen this somewhere. On the 458, yellow or red were no cost options and white cost extra.

Yes you are right Terry!
It looks like only the white is the optional extra.
So my dealer must have tricked me, saying that
the yellow is extra on my F430!

Now that I think about it, I have never seen an F430 with a black tach face, only red or yellow. None of my option lists show a charge for a color tach face for the F430.

So looking and being a little more accurate, the one and only F430 price list I have shows no charge for the colored tach face. I have multiple lists for the 575M, but not for the F430, since I do not own an F430.

Come to think of it, there is a pretty high limit on pdf files here, so here is the pdf, too.
