I don't really know where the fire started. I suspect there was a short related to the wiper motor. I talked to the owner, he mentioned that the wiper motor got very hot and stopped working. He replaced it then this happened shortly after. Not really sure if that is what caused the fire, but something related to that incident would be my guess.

Nice mirrors, too, if anybody wanted to cover a pair with CF. Has the latest Motronic DMEs, too, for the 04 MY.

Brian- That is interesting. What additional steps were required to swap this late Motronic DME (202757) into early 575Ms? These are the earliest US 575Ms and the Motronic DME they say to replace is a very late one introduced on the 04 MY 575Ms. That DME was originally for 575Ms after Assembly Number 52556, when the steering postion sensor was introduced.

Even though R+L are the same the right side is the master. It controls many functions that are not needed to be controlled by both. Things like turning the air injection on and off, RPM signal output for F1, traction control etc and dash info. That type of thing. It is also the only one that interacts with the immobilizer. Once it gets a run signal from the immobilizer it energizes the left ECU. The very first time any specific Motronic ECU gets connected to any specific immobilizer module it burns a code into the Motronic. It will never again communicate with any other immobilizer. If a new immobilizer is installed the left and right Motronic can be switched. In the non master role it will function fine. The dealers typically sell a new Motronic with a new immobilizer but that is not required. A new Motronic can be installed to an old immobilizer but an old Motronic that has ever served as a master unit can no longer be used for that purpose except if paired with its original immobilizer. Mercedes diagnostic equipment gives their dealers the ability to erase that code but we have no such ability with Ferrari nor have I ever found a source for that service. I have had a couple say they could but so far none have been able to pull it off. | |

Brian- Thanks, that makes perfect sense. The ones on the 360 have already been matched, so no way to reuse them. On the 575M TB, they were installing two new DMEs.

I have a few roll bars for a 360. Let me know exactly what you need. Or how much of it. Please send me a PM or email, I can check it out and get back to you.
