Hi Stef,

Sometimes I get 4 lights when I turn on the ignition, but after about 15 seconds it drops to 3.
I haven't changed the battery since I bought the car, but I keep on charging it every 3-4 weeks.
Perhaps I will need to invest in a new battery soon!

Stef, you are amazing, I just sat and read that from front to back. Your R&D is crazy, I only hope (like netman) you can find a way to make this work for a 360 as I would love to have it.
Thanks

Hi my friend, good to see you here I'm working on the non-F430 version which will cover all Ferraris which do not have a Can Bus on the OBDII connector. This includes the 360. It's a bit a challenge to make a production version of it because there will be much more electronics involved in the ISO9141-2 version of the interface (between the OBDII connector and the shift light). RPM is not directly available in this case and must be obtained through KWP2000 requests at a maximum interval of 150ms, then transformed into 16.66Hz pulses. I will post soon some more update on the progress made

it can be done, through utilising the clock spring in the steering wheel. I actually had a custom made shift lift module put into my subaru steering wheel. it was a MoTeC SDL and we removed the cruise control and horn functions and wired in the light module. Works brilliantly.

I am in the middle of ordering a new wheel but have put it on hold just incase there is a way stef can come up with incorporating shift lights into a wheel.

Thanks guys but sorry, I'm not taking the steering wheel incorporation direction. I'm considering only an installation on the steering column. I don't want to touch anything related to the steering wheel and especially the clock spring because that's too much responsabilities in case something is going wrong there (blocked wires in the clock spring can cause serious accidents with no insurance coverage in many countries).

Although, anyone is free to integrate the Shift Light display where he wants it will be just a question of rewiring the display unit because the steering wheel will require much longer wires that need to go inside the clock spring.

Okay thanks guys ill let you know what ive done. This is for a subaru and not ferrari but imo the same can apply.

I used a MoTeC SLM as i had one of these already for my car, they are really awsome bit of gear as they are more than just shift lights. In my case i use them for rpm shift lights, indicators, fuel level, engine warning etc etc.. They can be configured to do almost anything.

There was nothing steering wheel wise that i liked so i decided to incorporate the SLM into the top of my wheel aka the scuderia steering wheel.

I also wanted it to be carbon and alcantra to fit in with the rest of interior. I had my carbon guy fabricate a housing into the top of the wheel without cutting into the metal of the wheel. I then had him chase the wires down the side of the wheel. He also made the housing around 1mm bigger so I could slide a plastic sheet over the lights for that more stealth look.

Just incase the module had to be removed I had the bottom area removable but is not really visible to the eye.

Once that was completed I had a guy wrap the wheel in alcantra.

I used some plastic sheeting we have in Australia that is a smoke grey tint which I slid on top of the light module.

We then wired up the light module to the clock spring.

Hope this helps. It was a fair bit of work to do and cost was around 2k AUD excluding the steering wheel and shift light (350 AUD). So not a bad price was something so custom.

Hope that helps you guys..

Can see where the wires extend through:

Centre exposed, yellow wire is for airbag but on the seat there is a green plug which was used to splice into the light module then can clip into the clock spring. I removed the cruise control function years ago, so there were three wires I could use and I also utilised the horn wire and relocated the horn. Using the clockspring is beneficial as the wires are all insulated so there wont be any interference of signal. Also it prevents the usage of a springy wire (CB etc) that would get caught and not look great.

Wheel complete and fitted:

Example of lights illuminated: Works brilliantly I have done a few track days with this setup and I don’t even need to look at the dash anymore the lights and warning system are bright enough to get into my peripheral line of sight.
