Hi all, After the death of my Mondial at the hands of a driver who "just didn't see" me , I am looking at another Ferrari. I am having a PPI done on a 1999 360 this coming week. All the usual questions were answered with positive results. (trans update, recent service, newish clutch, etc.) I've read the forum's buyer's guide but wanted to ask if anyone had any other specific advice on things that should raise alarm bells from the PPI that might seem on the surface OK.Thanks in adavnce, Jeff |

I have also read the buyers guide and ir seems to cover it all - are you looking at a F1 or manual? This place has changed a lot in the past six months - you may want to post the car and see if anyone knows it's history. Glad you made it back! 612 Nuvolari 16M Grigio Ferro | |

did you look for accident damage? easiest way is with a paint meter, but any auto body guy should be able to take a quick once over and see. common thing that is overlooked. i once was buying a bmw 3 series, it was still under warranty and i took it to the closest bmw dealer for a ppi. came back clean. only had 16k miles. took it to my mechanic and hE told me it had been sectioned. guess the dealer didn't see the obvious weld line going all the way across the firewall. car was worthless after that. no one would buy it.

+1 on the cosmetic x-ray for accident damage. I'd also say pay attention to the compression and leakdown tests. Although the 360 seems to be a very reliable model, they could indicate a very expensive fix. Oh, and make sure every electronic feature works. EVERY one. They are time consuming, i.e. expensive, to fix. Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most. |

F1 or manual? Check for cracks in the gearbox housing. Make sure the alarm and air-conditioning are functioning properly. AC pipes can crack.

Alarm FOBs ( Red & Black ) are an important item that is overlooked.

Thanks everyone for the great info. When I get the PPI report, I'll be sure to inquire on these points if they're not specifically addressed. Thanks again, Jeff |
