Looking for low miles used convertible 2001-2005 ferrari 360...Is there a big difference between the F1 360 and the Modena spyder?? I currently have a 2004 Maserati spyder that is getting up there in miles...

Matt- Welcome to Ferrari Life. The 360 Modena and the 360 Spider share the same drivetrain and chassis, with minor chassis differences. The car was designed from the start to have a Spider version. The coupe is stiffer and lighter and the Spider offers open air driving and looks good with the top up, but great with the top down. Both were available with the F1 system or a three pedal set-up for the same 6 speed transmission. Even the single plate clutches are the same. Only shifter mechanism and throw-out bearings are different, plus a couple of extra sensors for the F1 system. Did you have any specific questions on the 360s? You can go to ferraridatabase.com and download a 360 Modena/Spider owners manual that may help you. Workshop manuals, too, if you are an insomniac. Get the Spider/convertible. Everyone's a convertible person, or you're not human. 'You look for the birds...they're gonna help you, those birds...you'll see -- Good luck. |

maybe I am confused... I thought that there was a 360 modena spyder convertible.. and a 360 spyder convertible (not Modena)....Cars.com allows you to search for 360 Modena AND 360 spyder (both convertible options too)...

Matt- You are confused. There is a 360 Modena coupe and a 360 Spider convertible and that is all there is besides the Challenge Stradale, a souped up and lightened coupe. There were also various racing versions, all coupes. Cars.com is not what I would call an authoritative source on any car. Do about five minutes research on Google and see what you learn. I've always been a coupe guy and not a convertible man (cars in general). Until I layed eyes on the 360 Spider...in person. It looks damn sexy in pics, but even pics don't do it justice. I think ultimately, for me, it will come down to price/condition/options to dictate which one I buy. Because, when I get down to it, I know I will enjoy the hell out of either one...top or no. No regrets either way. But I promise you I'll be eyeballing the Spider as my priority. |

Then I wanted a 550 or 575 did more research. Both times if the dealer would have pushed it I probably would have bought the car I was calling on. Then I saw the 612 on e-bay ... loved the car and started bidding to buy it. Thought for sure it was mine - called the dealer as the auction was near ending and they had sold it to someone. I was eyeing another 612 they had but it was more expensive - but I needed a 612 so we negotiated and I bought the car ... what a feeling! When it was delivered I asked the driver to pull it in my garage -no clue how the F1 worked. It was later I found these car forums - no idea they existed. You are fortunate to have found this knowledge base - guys here no their stuff about Ferrari's. Ask whatever you want and it's ok to be stupid - no need to ask me how I know 612 Nuvolari 16M Grigio Ferro | |

I can tell you with authority, you will not be disappointed with a 360. I drove a 430 Spider during my search and actually prefered the 360 on almost every count. One year on, I still go down to the garage and just look at my Spider. At this rate, the feeling should subside in about 75 years. You'll be happy with either model. Just post pics when you get it. |
