Default Looking for a 430 Spider & Help with a Buyers Guide

I will likely be in the market for either a 430 Spider or a 430 Scuderia by next spring. Would appreciate everyone's advise on what to look for when buying.

Buyers Guide: 430 Spider

At this point I am probably leaning more to the 430 Spider than the Scuderia. Current thinking is I already have quite a few "hard core, focussed" cars and the 430 Spider would provide more variety.

With the two you currently have, you've pretty well covered the, "hard core race car" segment.

The 430 will be a refreshing change.

As for spider, if you're not truly a convertible guy, think twice.

There's a lot more to go wrong, and wear on a top is tangible after a couple years no matter how diligent one is.

Would the weather allow you to use it often enough. I'm in Florida, so I figured geographically speaking it was a safe bet.

The 430 is refined enough to drive anywhere, for good periods of time while still feeling like a lot of car.

Maybe not an F50 or 40, but still a great deal of car. And the refinements make it very very enjoyable.

Hope my two helps.

After a significant amount of thought, I have decided to drop the search for a 16M and go back to a 430 Spider.

Any and all advise would be apprecaited.

Found this one, good spec, but asking price seems very high:

Looks like this will be a spring addition.

Any advise of specific areas to look for when buying would be greatly appreciated.

If you see one you like I can get you a shipping quote. At least you can get a feel for some prices and use it to negotiate on your end.

Hey Boxer,

Bought a 2008 F430 spider after a year of searching. One thing I learned was while it was more expensive, I bought a Certified car from Ferrari directly. They put in a new clutch (even though mine had only 4000 miles with 90% remaining) and we discovered that I needed a new exhaust manifold after I took delivery. They are covering the car for 1 year and to me it was worth the expense of paying a little more but having that coverage for parts and service. There are a lot of good cars out there but as you know repairs on these can get expensive so it might be worth considering.

Appreciate the offer but the UK RHD market is quite different from the US. Also bringing non-vintage cars in from outside the EU gets very expensive interms of both VAT and import duties.

Very tempting but this is intended to be my DD and I would not do that to a beautiful 330 GTS.

As the weather here has been quite mild the last two days, interest in getting a 430 Spider has definitely picked up again. Called the main dealer I use yesterday and asked him to start looking out for the right car.

Need to start making some progress on this search. I think I have the spec pretty much sorted. Now just need to find the right car.

Nice! They have dropped to ridiculous levels in the UK. Really a huge amount of car for the money. I coincidentally watched Clarkson drive the coupe and spider on Dave the other day, nice to be reminded on how utterly in love he was.

Future: 458 Italia (May 2012)
Present: 550 Maranello, 330GTC, 365BB (x2)
Past: eh - see above.

Actually they haven't really moved much in terms of price in the last year. A good 08 or 08 model will run GBP 80-90k still Early cars are in the GBP 60K range.

Tough one to find. Have only seen a couple and they were all early 430 Spiders with very basic specs.
