I think it is better if we do not bother Duram while he puts the finishing touches on the diagnostic tool.

All Ferraris

For any of the F1 cars, 355 through 599, an SD1/2/3 or equivalent (Leonardo, ST-05, etc) is required to set point of initilal slip (PIS) on the clutch. For the three pedal version, no problem setting up the clutch.

The good news is I just mailed a DVD to Andrew with all the OMs from the 166 through the 458, organized by Ferrari document number, where available, plus the 456, 456M, and 550 workshop manuals and a bunch of parts catalogs. Next I will send him the 348, 355, and 360 WSMs, including the Spider, so those can be posted, as well.

Soon, the members' library will have even more really useful information.

Rik- Your DVD is already mailed and it will be a lot easier dumping that to hard drive than downloading 250 or so owners manuals. If anyone else wants a DVD, just send me a PM.

I use the Texa tool for diagnosis. Take a look on Texa S.p.A. - Automotive diagnostic and telediagnostic equipment.
Or ask me :-)

Gerdi- There is not enough information on the site to tell you what the tools can do. Did I miss something?

Can the tools reset PIS on an F1 system?

John, you can read more on the Texa subject here: DIY-Device for testing and purging the F1 hydraulic system.

Sorry but Gerdi has been posting about this subject in several different threads, so the info is now all around.

I will come back to the Texa subject as I made some investigation on this through my network and I'm expecting to receive some concrete info soon.

I would say go for it, aquire the specific tools for your car and manuals
and that will be a big start. Like some prior members have posted Ferrari's get
a much worser rep with regards to being mechanically un reliable. However I would
disagree and say that Ferrari does infact make a rather reliable product / machine.

I would say it depends on the specific model, some models are more complex then others. Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, the list and so on, they indeed are not Duplo or even Lego friendly.

I see a lot of cars, or rather owners with problems. Often it is they cut a corner on up keep or in some cases down right abuse. And like one member stated, some simply do not drive their cars enough. And this is true with all vehicles and especially things Ferrari, Lamborghini and or even Porsche.

That's my two cents, worst case you make a mistake, or brake a bolt. It's learning and not the end of the world.
