Default 04 F1 360 Spider (exported to UAE for 8 mo)

Hi all,

I'm working on purchasing my first 360 Spider and I'm dealing on a red/tan manual. I have been watching a second choice, a white F1. I ran the vin and noticed that it popped up on ebay.

In 2009, it was exported to UAE for 8 months and returned in Jan 2010. What do you make of that ? It was driven about 200 miles while there. (edit to include: I've asked the seller, waiting a while for a response...)

Also, there is one item of concern, the owner mounted a spoiler on the rear.

I love the color combo and the pristine condition of the car though I'm thrown off with these two items. Driving the spider, there are blind spots, do you believe this spoiler would cause more blind spots ?

and here is another pic of the profile, showing the spoiler (the seller advises that the spoiler is not available to be removed)

Now, this is to be my first 360 Spider. I've owned 2 previous Ferraris and I'm on my third Maserati, driving daily... I'm basically picking the absolute best condition over my preference of manual transmission. What do you think about this one ?

Thank you in advance for your opinion.

Thoughts ?

I don't know if it would cause a blind spot, but the spoiler would certainly cause me to snicker...

Seriously, if you like the car, the PPI checks out, and the price is right, get it.

It certainly is a nice color combo, and a beautiful car from the pictures.

Thanks. The original design is so perfect, that damn spoiler. I guess I would have to replace the entire piece over the engine but matching exactly is tough. I'm somewhat of a purest when it comes to Ferrari.

The price is right and the color is gorgeous. If this was a stick, I would buy it immediately. I have doubts because of the spoiler and the export/import to/from EAU...

Looks beautiful. My suggestion is that after your acquisition, leave the spoiler as is for a while and see how things turn out. You can always replace parts. Good luck and great choice too. w/ regards Jimmy

that is a quite pricey novitec spoiler and if you like spoilers, certainly the one to have. I would add it probably can be removed and sold for enough to patch up the bonnet. Not sure why the export would be an issue. Price and PPI would be my factors.

IIRC, GCalo imported from that area and not too unusual to swap/trade cars about from those buyers in what seems like short time periods.

As long as it checks out, don't think the export is a big deal.

Thank you avi8tor !!!!

Hi, The dealership that this was services in UAE was Premier Motors, all carfax and auto checks result in clear mileage and service records though it's been through several auto-auctions.

Apparently, the owner was a boxer and went to UAE, brought the car with him. While there, they had some service records with the above dealership.

It has a Kreissieg exhaust system.

The records state the following (rounded for typing in FLife)

Replaced both side exhaust manifold, both oxygen sensor, ECU and both exhaust temp sensors.
replaced clutch
replaced all brake pads
annual service

* also states the following at 12,6k US miles
Complete clutch
Engine Flywheel Compl.
Bushing
Complete sensor kit
Collettore Di Scarico Sinis
R.H. Exhaust Manifold
Front Lambda
Lambda Feeler Rear
Thermocouple.
Catalyst Temp Control Stati
Kit front pads
Kit of read pads

it has 14,485 miles today. I'm flying out to look in the morning.

The first report for service in carfax was 2006 (this is a 2004) and had 11k miles in April 06 when serviced.

I'm waiting on a call back from this 360's main Ferrari dealer who has completed the majority of the services.

What do you think ?

I don't have records for when the Kreissieg exhaust system was installed, you don't replace an exhaust manifold for this, correct ? I just placed a Tubi on an 06 Maserati CC and the Tubi is designed to fit right in.

My thoughts are, transports to/from UAE caused errors ...

Any and all feedback is appreciated !

Heard back from Ferrari Philly. in Nov 08, it went in for service and had several issues. Cooling, exhaust, door. Ferrari Philly corrected the cooling issue and did an annual. After that, it went to UAE and returned.

I've submitted an informational request for service performed on this car with Premier Motor in UAE, now I wait.

Also, a PPI is over an hour away from the dealer's location.

Advised to to walk away ! Haven't ever had a dealer tell me that !

2004 FERRARI 360 SPIDER/SPIDER F1
VIN: ZFFYT53A640137723

It's an absolutely gorgeous, pristine looking car. So sad.

The car is priced at wholesale and whoever buys the car will love driving the car, it absolutely stands out and is stunningly gorgeous. When a car is overheated to the extent that this beauty was overheated, wiring becomes brittle, etc,etc.etc. It had severe problems and they may have been corrected in UAE but this kind of overheating results in future problems, in my own opinion (and experience).

I love to drive, when I had my 348, I drove it all the time, it's been about 10 years since I've had a Ferrari and I'm working on a 360 Spider that I can enjoy.

Best of luck to this white beauty ! I was able to pull the service records from several sources. The dealer who has the car is super-nice and I did relay the concrete findings (service records) to them. xx
