Default First 612 Scaglietti - new member

Hi all,

I am new here, but a long time member of one of the other Ferrari forums.

Last wednesday I closed the deal on a lovely Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. It is a MY 05, TdF blue and beige interior. And most important it is a manual.
I have noticed that there is a different lay-out on the TFT display compared to the younger models. Was that a software update?
Furthermore the car has a Tubi installed, but still is very silent at idle. Probably the exhaust is valve controlled, so I will attempt to make a switch in the cabin which will open the valves if I want the car to be louder.
I just never knew how fantastic these cars are to drive. Easy when you want it to be easy, and pure adrenalin if you step on the pedal. They are unbelievably well balanced for such a big car.
I am happy!!

I will add some of the first pictures.

Welcome to Ferrari Life Ton612. Congratulations on your 612 Scag!

TdF blue and Crema is a great combo for the 612. Enjoy in good health.

Welcome to FerrariLife. Great color combination on the 612. What other Ferraris have you owned?

Congrats with the 612, Ton! I am sure you will enjoy the drive... I had the 612 for a while and enjoyed touring around UK with it.

Beautiful colour combo, congratulations I am sure you will enjoy her fully!

Have you owned or do you own any other Ferrari & if so how do you compare the 612 Scag?

Thanks for the welcome!

In the last few years I owned a couple of other wonderful Ferrari's (and one Maserati):

328 GTS - 71687
348 spider - 97940
355 spider - 110063
512 TR - 92935

This will be my first modern Ferrari, and I can already say that I am hooked.
Although I did want to keep the stick! I love the drivers involvement with a manual gearbox. And it looks fantastic!
Oh, and once you have driven a V12 Ferrari there is simply no way back.

I live in Belgium, but I purchased the car in Italy. It is still in Italy for now. I will probably pick it up in a week or two.

Ton- Welcome. Very nice 612 and the three pedal version is fairly rare. I doubt there were 250 three pedals built out of 3025 total.

Ton, congrats. I agree, the gated shifter is a classic, good choice.

3 pedals is the way to go. Too bad Ferrari doesn't offer anything in manual anymore'

I am Dutch, but I live in Belgium close to Maastricht.

Can't wait to pick her up. Today she will be at Ferrari in Brescia for a COC procedure and an inspection. When the COC has arrived I will fly over to Verona and drive her home.

Ton- Not long now. The drive home should be fun. Good way to get to know the car. If you do not have an owners manual yet, one of your countrymen, Ben Deetman, has a site at ferraridatabase.com where you can download a copy for free.

Your last name doesn't start with a V, by any chance Ton? Did you use to be active on the Dutch section on the dark side?
