Default CF Parts 550

Does anyone know whether there are CF parts available for the 550, and if so, where I could find them?

Thanks

eeehhmmm, well, nothing special, really. Bought new wheels and tires and found that retail therapy is kind of nice....so might as well see what other nice stuff there is out there.

Very nice products, thanks for letting me know!

By the way, anyone knows if there are any engine bay CF parts available? (air boxes?)

These 19' Superamerica wheels and tires....Very happy with them!! They have fairly new Pirelli PZero's. Many guys say these tires are crap, however, they have only covered 2000 miles so I think I will leave them on for the time being. You'll see them at Fled, I hope!

I've been trying to get Chris @ Valence (or anyone else for that matter) interested in making some timing covers in CF for the 550. Those thin, cheap plastic covers at the front of the motor that crack & fall apart after 15 years and are $300 each? Getting these covers done would mean that 3.5 models of V12's are covered (if you consider both versions of the 456 to be 1.5 models)

Also the spark plug lead covers - for those who don't want to upgrade to my uber cool COP system Getting those done would cover both the 456's and the 550.

MACarbon weren't interested and neither were Carbonio.

Any other owners interested?

High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars.

John, I'm interested in the 550 CF timing covers as well. Perhaps also the plug lead covers since I havn't taken a decision on COP yet;

Fantastic split rim wheels Jeroen, they will enhance your 550 beautifully, looking forward to seeing them on your 550 in a few weeks - well done!

Haven't actually bought any CF from either vendor, but FWIW, Valence manufacture "new" parts from CF instead of laminating old parts with a layer of CF.

T&B OTOH, laminate over existing parts; I do not think they manufacture anything "new".

For the pieces I wanted (timing covers and plug lead covers), Valence were recommended by one of the principals at MACarbon. He felt the lamination process just wouldn't look that good on parts that have a complex shape. For parts that are flat or have simple shapes, the lamination process apparently works OK.

thx cribbj...

any thoughts then on 'mixing' carbon parts...i.e. macarbon carbon fiber steering sheet...valence f1 paddles...re: will the carbon fiber 'match'? of would they look 'different' (i.e. one laminated...one made 'new')

tia,
mike

Mike- If you want CF paddles the Carbonios carried by Ricambi are the best out there and fitted to my car. If you go to Carbonio's web site the photos of the 575M paddles are of my car.

John- There is a CF panel available for Maranellos that replaces the large metal panel in front of the engine. Can dig up the German source if you are interested.
