Given the great condition of the car, I was shocked at the low price. But it is the winter season and prices are always lowest then. Antoher item, the striped seats may not be very popular. Still, I think someone is going to get a great car with this one. Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most. |

Looks like a very nice, very late 550 at a reasonable price. They were building early 575Ms at the same time this car, Assembly Number 43241, was being built. The Geneva Show 575M was Serial Number 125371, Assembly Number 43148, and there were earlier 575Ms. The car also has several Scaglietti options that carried over to the 575M, including red brake calipers, Daytona seats with contrasting stripes, and an upholstered rear shelf.

It also has the Barchetta modular wheels. The ad mentions a recent service(s) which include new accessory belts and "cam timing service." I'm not sure if that means new belts and tensioners. But it's a nice car alright! |

| Yes, I.agree the Daytona's are a popular option and I think they are great. But I also sense that contrasting colored stripes don't seem to be as popular.

That's one of the best looking 550's ... really like the seats and diamond stitching on the shelf.

David- Actually, the contrasting stripes in black with red and tan with black are very popular. My car came with the standard seats in Charcoal, and I have been contemplating installing Daytona inserts with red stripes to complement the red stitching. Here are a couple of black with red stripe examples.

Can't recall if you installed the leather shelf or not but that diamond stitching or the daytona shelf with red straps could be very cool.

| Guess it's just my perception. The cars with contrasting stripes seem to take longer to sell. I also seem to recall Sheehan mentioning that when we discussed my Spider purchase. Then again, it's very possible there were other reasons the cars took longer. Who knows?...

This was the guy who owned it at the time ....2008, 28 Sept., sold to third owner, Stephan Weir, Santa Monica, CA 90403. It was just the worst car I have ever seen, This guy told me he bought it from a friend, Turns out It was a rental in Las Vegas. I found that out from Steve Harris Imports. I think this is one of those you get what you pay for. So anybody interested please check it out first. cheers, Bill |

That could explain the reasonable price. Usually does.....

| interior color is such a personal choice. I cant warm up to Sheehan's car but the Daytona stripes - in the right combination are a great accent. I like red tan as shown here. To bad they want 100k for it.... it's a tough market right now - nothing for sale I see that makes any sense unless you want to pay in the 90s which is ridiculous. I tried to buy a Tdf / cuoio car in Salt Lake last week but upon close inspection it has not had the car that would make me feel comfortable - the search continues for a gated 575 or 550.... |

Not surprised. Prior to seeing your post I was about to say Poor continuity of ownership. The last three of four owners all tried to dump it before the year was out. Poor continuity of service. Doesn't look like it ever went to the same place twice for anything important. There might even be a fifth owner we don't know about. It didn't suddenly just get serviced 2500 miles away because they had a sale on cam belts. None of which is a deal killer but after being paid to inspect cars for a few decades it raises such a big red flag I wouldn't spend airfare to go look. I would bet it became a rental and got dumped by three (four?) in a row for a good reason.

i considered this car early in my hunt. was owned by an alan (?) ruskin and lyons had it listed for sale for him off and on. ruskin is in the car biz. ruskin sold it to wair. wair apparently dumped a ton of money into it - ran into some issues and then fire sale'd it for $63k. it is a former rental car. |
