Default Precats on a 550

I have a year 2000 550 and I see reference from time to time in the forum as the 550 having precat restrictors (1998-2001?). Where are they located, upstream of the main cat where the first O2 sensor is? What form do they take, special lining material in the pipe?

How do the HyperFlow cats replace/improve on this restriction?

I understand the function is to aid cold start emissions prior to the main cats warming up and is legally required for US.

I have been looking at this exploded view parts diagram
Ferrari Parts, Ferrari Accessories, and Ferrari Performance Products - Ricambi America, Inc.
Many thanks,
Ron

I am unaware of any 550 with precats.

Just say no to Hyperflow.

Hi Brian,
Right, I dont see any precats in the exploded diagram.
As for Hyperflow do you have an altenative way to go or do you mean stock cats flow good enough?
Thanks,
Ron

I have had multiple problems with the product and it was very obvious they had no intention of standing behind it.

They are no longer on my list of suppliers for cats.

I see no reason whatever to replace functioning OE cats.
