Default Info please on a 2004 575M for sale

Does anyone know this car:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-Ferrari-575-Maranello/180754734194?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a15d25c72

or anything about this dealer? Dan at Bradan told me he thought that this car was at Ferrari of Long Island as recently as 2-3 weeks ago.

From one of the interior pictures, it is clear that the leather under the windshield has buckled. I just had a similar leather condition repaired on my 550 by Bradan. Not an inexpensive fix (but Bradan does a terrific job!).

Regards,

Phil

Phil- It is not in my data base and I do not remember seeing it before. Carbon may have some details. It is an early 2004 with an Assembly Number around 521XX, so it has the factory straight pipes and late mufflers. Here is a list of upgrades by Assembly Number. The Cuoio intrior is very nice and my favorite interior color. Lightly optioned (more than mine, however), but it has the options (less the nav system) most people consider the most desirable, wheels, shields, and Daytonas.

Plus it does have a manual shifter, which some find very desirable.

Looks good from here - Global has a lot of high end cars.

For some reason they tend to be blinged out - this one looks great and very original.

Also one of the best color combinations with a six speed - seems like the original owner knew what he was doing.

Taz,

Thank you for that information. Yes, the options on that one as well as the colors are exactly what I would want on a 575M including the third pedal.

When I got my 550 last year, I was so pleased with it that I felt sure that I would like to have another 550 or a 575M. At the current price points and looking forward by 20-30 years, I think these would be a couple of special cars for my children to enjoy.

I’m not in a hurry to find another stable mate for the 550 but perhaps this one is a good candidate.

Champagne612,

Thanks for the input!! I will be looking closer.

Thanks again all!

Phil

Phil- If you get one of each, maybe you can breed them and get one with the best features of both. Would be a thoroughbred, for sure.

Taz,

HaHa!! I may have to keep them in separate garages!!!

What will I get if I cross my 550 with my BMW Z8? A 10 cylinder??

Regards,

Phil

Saw this ad on Tuesday & called the dealer. Wednesday morning I called back, negotiated the price and gave the dealer a 5k deposit on the car subject to acceptable PPI.
Arranged to have visual inspection by a reliable party for Thursday, bought a rather expensive plane ticket for Monday for personal inspection, PPI at Continental for Tuesday.

Friday at lunchtime I get an email asking me to call the dealer - the sales manager tells me that they have sold the car to another buyer on Friday for more money.

"just the fact ma'am"

Draw your own conclusions.

Wow - same thing happened to me on a car.

It was a semi special car and the dealer was able to locate another.

Bottom line - you gave an offer it was accepted and the car was under contract.

The reverse happened to me once. I test drove a 2-year Dodge Ram 3/4 ton extended cab long bed diesel truck and said, "Great. I'll take it." He said, "Well, there's another guy that wants it too and he said he'd come back on Friday." (which was 2 days away) He said, "Can you give me until Friday." I said, "Dale, I'm an impulse buyer. I might not want it on Friday. I'm here now ready to buy. You gonna sell me this truck?" He tried calling the guy but there was no answer. I drove it home that day. I saw him a week later and he said the other guy had come in and was pissed that he sold the truck because it was exactly the one he wanted. He said in all his years of business I was the first customer to pressure him into making a sale. I ended up buying 5 cars from him over the years and even gave him one to sell for me on consignment. Which he did within a month.

Different circumstance from yours but I thought I'd share the story. Car buying and selling is a tricky business making money and trying to keep everybody happy. Since you gave the deposit you could have legal recourse if you want to pursue it but the car is gone regardless. You're not getting that car no matter what. As long as you get your money back I'd just move on and look for a different car.

In my case - which I posted a whole thread over it.

Comes down to holding people accountable as they would expect the same from you or I.

I think once you sacrifice on one issue it allows others to follow - ethics!

with the internet these days you gotta wonder why business' do that kind of crap. pissing you and others off could cause even one deal to go south and they lose more money than they "gained". Seems like bad biz practice.

True - my case it was the last one.

Between the two forums there is a good chance the new owner will appear.

Hope it's here where he belongs

oh its a small world for sure - I recieved a pm from the shop of the new owner almost immediately after posting about this....

I am quite sure the new owner now knows exactly what happened with me - in fact I would assume the seller played both of us to get the deal done for every last nickel - if not i would be in Chicago in a few hours inspecting the car I had contracted to purchase

Yup. Before the internet the rule of thumb was that if you gave someone good service they would tell a friend. If you gave them bad service they would tell 20. Nowadays that number has risen to hundreds.

wouldn't it be a subtle irony if the OP was the Buyer?

Yes it would and I think very likely - which I sorta eluded to earlier.

Must say - you have far more patience than myself.

yes I do - ironically I sent Phil a PM on the day he started the thread (two days after I made contact with the seller) out of courtesy to let him I know I had contracted to buy the car and had put a deposit on it - told him I would let him know how it turned out so he wouldnt spin his wheels - so no good deed goes unpunished - I was courteous and well ... look what happened
I cant blame him, dont know him - not what I would have done but I armed him with the tools and maybe he used them. Who ever it was had to bid against me and paid more - apparently what ever it took, including taking the car as is with a dash the dealer couldnt correctly fix - the dealer told me that.

I conduct myself in manner by which I sleep well at night.

another car will come along for me - after all these cars are still falling in value at 15% a year right now and will never be collectable

for the record - I have been in touch with the Buyer and we both now understand what happened here - no problem between us. He bought a great car.

And I have to decide whether we have enough material to make the sequel to "Used Cars"

still in the hunt...
