I have a 2004 575M F1 with 20K miles on it. Last summer, the medio-blue leather on the top of the dash, behind the instrument cluster, has shrunk away from it fastenings at both the instrument cluster and at the windshield. I don't park the car in the sun, but it does winter in an insulated but unheated garage. I got a quote from a local Maserati dealer who works on Ferraris. (There is no authorized Ferrari service in Minnesota). He wants $4500 to do the job which seems very high to me, particularly when I consider that a major belt service on the car, from the same dealer, is $5100. Have any of the 550/575M owners had this problem? Please let me know what your fix was and how much it cost. Many thanks, Regards..... |

Fairly common issue. Taz might also have a suggestion on how to handle.

Common issue, and usually expensive to fix. Your quote doesn't sound so strange to me, provided that new leather is applied and it is done by a proper, qualified, upholsterer. Onno Future: 458 Italia (May 2012) Present: 550 Maranello, 330GTC, 365BB (x2) Past: eh - see above. |

The dash will need to be pulled regardless of how it is to be repaired. R&R by a shop that really knows what they are doing is ~8 hours labor, as quoted by Bradan. If you are really lucky, the leather can be Leatheriqued, stretched, and reglued. Usually though, the dash leather needs to be replaced. Not a big deal for a black dash, but a pain for a different color, especially one with colored stitching. Mine was replaced about 2 years ago for about $2500, but labor rates here are not that expensive. I just got a quote in Toronto for $2500.00 to replace the leather across the top of the dash. Mine pulled back from the windshield as well.
