in my 612 HGTEs was awesome! Great time, great weekend, couldn't have spend a better time any other way. Special thanks to alex and the organizers for them great roads and smooth operations. even had a chance to do some laps on the newly built race track on my new HGTE rims and it was much better than my stock 20s. Now im looking to fit some GTO rims on my 612 if possible. Im sure it will handle much builder from what im seeing with new HGTEs. It should of left the factories like this. It is a huge difference when changing lanes at highway speeds and less body roll means more confidence insipring when changing directions and cornering. But the big boat chew up tires on the track though. In 3 laps my front left edge are almost bald!! Anyway, couldn't spend a better time with 60 other fellow ferraris!! pics here : rally - Rennlist Discussion Forums and heres my GTO rim question : sorry but i only read ur posts for the most technical of ****z and u wrote this before : 599 Challenge Monolithic 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 8J X 20 ET 43.5 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm HGTE Five Spoke 20”, 5 X 114 mm Front 8.5J X 20 ET 40 mm, Rear 11J X 20 ET 63.8 mm 599 GTO Five V/Ten Spoke 20”, 5 X 114.3 mm Front 9.5J x 20” ET 38 mm, Rear 11.5J x 20” ET 63 mm after i have HGTE rims on my 612, i found it a massive improvement over stock when it comes to lane changing stability, of course it doesnt handle like a 458 but it is way better than my stock 20s. so now it got me thinking about GTO rims, from my calculations and naked eye observations, i think the fronts will stick out 0.5+" inch which is no problem when in full lock cause i still have a lot of inner fender room with HGTEs. and i dont need to use the 275 tires from the GTO, maybe 255 or 265 tires instead to have more clearance. But the rears are just a finger gap with the inner fenders with HGTEs. i worry if i put GTO rims on which will be 0.22" closer to the inner fenders it might rub. i can stick with 305s and not the GTO spec 315 tires if that helps. There are only a handful of GTOs where im from and they might not want to lend me their rims for test fitting so im asking for ur help. thanks so much! and hopefully u will tell me NO and i can stop day dreaming and forget about it. |

What Up Wild Man Good to see you over here! I can't imagine what your 612 looks like - post some pics in the 612 section and get yourself an owners tag. 612 Nuvolari 16M Grigio Ferro |

John- Welcome to Ferrari Life. Good to see you again. GTO tires sizes are 285/30 20 F and 315/35/20 rear. Those tires are 27.85" tall F and 28.68" tall R. If you use stock 599/HGTE tire sizes of 245/35 20 F and 305/35 20 R, I checked and they will still fit the 9.5" and 11.5" rims. Diameters are 26.75" F and 28.41" R, which gives you an extra 0.27/2 '' of clearance in the back (28.68-28.41=0.27"/2= 0.135" or 3.4 mm extra clearance on top). The smallest rear tire you could use and still have it fit an 11.5" rim would be 295/35 20, which has a diameter of 28.13", and would give another bit of clearance, but is probably not needed. It looks like the GTO wheels with 599/HGTE tires should fit and you will get the benefit of the stiffer wheel/tire combination. Adding the HGTS/HGTC anti-roll bar, if yours is not already fitted with HGT(X), would also help, but the 9.5" F wheels will already reduce understeer quite a bit. You might want to talk to your tech about a four wheel alignment if you go with those wheels. Your 612 is essentially the same chassis as the 599 with a 200 mm longer wheelbase (2950 mm vs 2750 mm), so alignment specs for the 599/HGTE may be more appropriate for your car with GTO wheels than 612 settings, except ride height, which should remain stock, if they differ. Bad news is those wheels are ~$15K. Great photos. Two SA Apertas is pretty impressive. Those HGTE wheels look better on your 612 than they do on a the 599 HGTE. Sure you want to change? thank u so much for ur great info again! but im more worried about the width of the rear wheel with 305 tires that might touch the inner fenders with a 11.5" rim which is 0.5" wider than my HGTEs right now, which should be 0.25" closer to the inner fender liner now. because with HGTEs i only have a finger gap, so i guess i really need to do a test fit. Surprisingly, owners here sometimes dont want them stock rims, so i wish i can cash out on one of them GTO wheels when i get the chance. thanks again and luckily it was pretty easy to track u down!
