Default SA Aperta

Saw my a lovely SA Aperta yesterday. Very cool car. Just slightly more practical than a 550 Barchetta. In reality it is a soft targa type roof. Definitely more Barchetta than Spider.

Boxer, I saw one last week at a car show in Irvine, CA (photos posted in the East Coast Chimps thread). It was cream with a brown interior. I can't say I was too fond of it. It reminded me of the new Jag XJ interior in that is looked overly stuffed. Perhaps it was because of all the vintage cars surrounding it, but it didn't seem to get all that much attention from the crowd either.

I like the Aperta

Owners seemed to go all out on selections.

The Alonzo 599 is what I am dying to see - 60 units faster and lighter than the GTO!

I wouldn't kick it out of the garage.

Saw Chris Evans's at Maranello Concessionaires, Egham. He was kind enough to give a few rides to people.

I got a call from the dealer on the authorization by the owner to tell the salespeople that he just witnessed the new 599 going round and round the track.

Stated it looked a lot like the 8C

In the same conversation he mentioned 60 of the Alonzo 599.

Started a thread asking if anyone else knew about it.

Boxer- Affirmative on not kicking her out. A little red (or black) paint and CF mirrors and you would be set. For me, steering wheel on the wrong side, though.

Looks like Rosso Scuderia to me, but it may be the light.

I wouldn't let it IN the garage....

Mostly because it would displace a Ferrari I like much much better!

Had not heard anything about it. Will check today and let you know if/what I can find out.

On a side note, the dealer who had the 16M I test drove on Saturday has a brand new 8C Spider for sale.

What's this Aperta thingy? Looks like a 599 with stargazers top to me. Still prefer the GTO though. This looks soft. But I'm sure the V12 will make up for all the criticism.

GTO engine and chassis, 80 built to celebrate Pininfarina's 80th anniversary. Very difficult to get on the list for one.

Where is that? Exeter? I thought the only UK Apertas were going to customers of HR Owen, Maranello's and Graypaul. Mind you, I know things have changed somewhat since the original announcement of the car.

Strange because I know Meridien quite well and can't work out where that is exactly. Still, they weren't supposed to be supplying an Aperta either!
