Found some very high quality brass/bronze fuel pump covers at FMS Car Parts: They're advertised as being for the 355 or 550 (I didn't realise the two cars shared fuel pump covers?), but if they fit the 550, they should also fit the 456M. These look much more robust than the flimsy OEM plastic covers that develop stress cracks. The plastic covers are less than 1/8" thick. Before I found these, I'd been thinking of making my own, machined from billet aluminum. John- The late cover is shared with the 456M, the early cover is unique to the 550. I did not find a common cover with the F355. If you bought every part for both fuel pumps, including the two fuel pumps, on the 575M, it would be less than $800 from Ricambi. If you could get them, it would be several thousand for the 550 or 456M. Looks like they did learn something before building the 575M. No, the 550's fuel system isn't brilliant, and after studying it on the workbench, there's just no justification for those prices. Most of the pieces, including the pumps themselves, are commonly available Bosch parts. Only those rear covers were difficult to find separately for awhile, but are now apparently available from this outfit, and in a more robust construction than the originals. The original covers are stamped "Fiat", so this whole pump assembly was probably designed for & used on one of those cars, and then reused for the Ferrari. The Bosch fuel pump P/N actually crosses over to a Fiat also. Perhaps these bronze covers are even upgrades from Fiat after experiencing the cracking in the originals. Rik, here's a link to the page for this product: Ferrari Parts : 173890R : 173890R FUEL PUMP CAP - AFTERMARKET - FMS Car Parts I should have mentioned in the first post that Ricambi are stocking the OEM covers, along with the rubber pump cushions now, but if your original covers are cracked, then IMO, there's no reason why new replacement OEM covers won't eventually crack also. It's just a poor design. These bronze covers just seem to be a better idea all around, with the possible exception of that electrical feedthrough bushing. I'm not too enamored with the way they've done that, and it'll be interesting to see if there's any leakage/seepage or long term degradation of it when exposed to our goat p*ss pump gas.
