Disaster struck!! Hit a bridge joiner doing about 130mph (~210kph) at the bottom of a dip just as the suspension loaded up and **BANG**. It was dark so the car following must have had an awesome display of sparks lighting up my undercarriage!! No immediate catastrophe but examination the next day (and about 120km later) revealed the lefthand gearbox radiator air intake dragging in the dirt. Photo 1 reveals just how much plastic has been ground off the leading edge - about 30mm! Photo's 2 and 3 from both sides shows the fix using '100mph tape'. Fortunately, as the photos show, the plastic brackets on the air intake were the only things that broke. The replacement part arrived within a week Photo 4 shows the new (shiny) intake in place. It's obvious (now) to see why in broke off in the first place. It is the lowest part of the car and it'll get left behind quite easily. Anyone else had this happen? |
