Default Ferrari FF

Hi all! It's the time to show you the Ferrari FF in Silverstone grey with black interior. The FF looks quite nice but when you see it for the first time you can't recognize It's a Ferrari. It's strange, I know, but I like it!

What do you think?

I've got to say, no matter what color I see it in, it's still a BMW on steroids to me.

I can completely understand a person with a sporty family who lives in a snowy country and does not want to drive a Conti, nor an ML, Q7, 7 series x-drive, S500 4matic, etc. He wants the Ferrari feel and his other cars in the garage are also mostly Ferrari. He is doing the right thing in buying the FF.

The FF with a roof box would be my choice anytime in such a situation, no doubt. I am not overthrilled by its looks but I try to see it as a welcome escape from the SUV plague. I'd probably have it black. Luckily I have the G55 and the 612 so it is not a problem for me right now.

I guess it's a wait and see. If it becomes a footballer wife's Conti substitute then the whole thing is likely to be history for me. It takes something very special to subtitute my G55 AND my 612 in one car - in fact that would be impossible. It's only the station wagon rear end of the FF I have problems with.

If they make an elegant two seater coupé version of the FF then it might be a contender for substituting my 612. Then again I'd still probably keep the 612 'cause the trade in value is so low and I'm not giving away an awesome Ferrari for change money.

I, as with the CA and Italia, have warmed up to the FF: It is what it is and a Ferrari.

I have no more problems with the looks, and have changed my attitude quite a bit, and especially after seeing the breadvan.

Not kicking out any Ferrari to include my Mondial and 456, which by many standards should be shunned.

. I too, would LOVE to drive it in the 'bad weather'....quite sure that would be one hair raising ride.

The FF is what Ferrari needed to compete with Bentley - IMO

Those two cars have been going at one another since day one.

Unless you own a Bentley SS or whatever then I doubt you are an FF candidate.

The rear of the FF does have a certain Volvo/Porsche Panamera feel to it that really puts me off. A two seat coupe version would definitely be of more interest.

I agree. I finally got to see the car at the factory and it just doesn't work for me. No spark. Although I have to say it looks better in the metal than photographs, it's still not pretty.

What was also impressive was the sheer size of the thing. If you park a 599 next to a 550, you notice that the 599 seems 10% larger. If you park an FF next to a 599, you have the same effect again. And I thought the 550 was not a small car....

Don't get me wrong - I love the engineering portion.

Owner of the 612 and have had zero issues with placing adults in the rear as far as comfort.

I don't understand why Ferrari enlarged the rear headroom and ruined the roof line.

On a Saturday Night a couple is not going to sit in back of the FF or any other 2 door and get out without a lot of shall we say Beaver remorse.

A guy who spends 400k doesn't need the FF for rear entertainment - no business man is going to pick up his clients in a 2 door and squeeze them in the back.

So ...

Whatever Ferrari was thinking was ridiculous - the lines they used are not going to increase it's use.

Reference a Rapide or Pan Am - then you have a real back seat at 1/2 the price or less.

Every FF owner still needs another 2 doors - those big lines accomplished nuttin!

I do want to say Thanks to Ferrari for not ruining the resale of the 612 upon introducing the FF.

One other note - 350k+ ... Ferrari is asking way too much from their base customer.

Imagie pulling up in your 612 - 3 4 5 years old ... then writing a check for 250 for the new model.

No Thanks

Ok, I see your point. You are right and I agree with you, but I think Ferrari wants to divide its models. I mean, before the FF, we had a 458 (Classic Sporty Ferrari), the 599 and the 612 which are quite similar. Both have a front-mounted V12, both are the classic Fastback Coupe, so fast and so "comfortable". It's also true that the 599 is sportier than the 612 but they were still very very similar to each other.
With the new FF, Ferrari wants to create a new range: 458 for clients who want the sportiest and the fastest Ferrari on Track, the future 599 for clients who want a great GT with good handling and the FF, for new clients and a little part of clients who owned 599 and 612 before.
I think this is what Ferrari believe!

Anyway, Congratulations for your 612 Scaglietti. I love it, It's one of my favourite Ferrari. Every time I listen to a 612 with Tubi I fall in love with her!

I know I'm in the (ultra) minority, but I actually like the FF a lot on all accounts - styling, engineering, and the use case. If I had the means to drop that sort of coin, in particular on a daily driver, I would buy one. For the vast majority of my driving, an FF would work much better than any other car they've made.

Now I just need them to depreciate like a rock so I can go out and scoop one up.

I completely agree with you chanpagne612. I just bought a 2006 Scaglietti HGTC and am so happy about the FF as a successor. I would never buy the FF because of its looks, never mind the price. That makes my 612 even more exciting and in my mind most current. I do not long for a car that I cant get because of price. I bet it is still an incredible driving experience though.

Danny- Welcome to Ferrari Life. Introduce yourself down below and we will get you signed up as an owner.

I actually like the FF, but since I am a two seat man, will never need one. I need a fly fishing car and a 2 seat, go fast comfortably car and the FF is neither. I like the 612, too, and the HGTC was the top dog until the Sessanta/OTO came along. Believe you could still get an HGTS package on those two. Did not need HGTC because they already came with CCMs.

After reading the technical description of the operation of the front drive system I am convinced that Rube Goldburg was a consultant on the project. I have seen several of my colleagues holding their sides in stitches after reading its description.

It really sounds like a case of adapting some mismatched components they found at a surplus sale rather than doing actual engineering.

I suspect at some point in the future some enterprising sole will make his fortune doing 2 wheel drive conversions.

Hmm. Could have taken some lessons from other Nordic types in the AWD category?

From all the problems sprouting from the CAs I've read over the last two years, I would like to see how a 4WD system sorts out--first venture and all. And that would only mean someone truly is running it as an AWD in the bad weather areas: Not saying Jury is out, just we don't know the total nay votes yet.

Ferrari has taken the dual road as all the other top-enders: sporting families wanting that bling, and, the racer types.

oh, well. Porsche model.
