Default Depreciation: 599 GTB & 612

Early 599 GTBs are now selling for just under GBP 100k and early 612s are trading in the GBP 50k range now. Given that the 575 seems to have settled in the GBP 50k range now and 456 GTs are GBP 30K cars on a good day, where do you think the 599 & 612 are going to settle ?

Boxer- Difficult question. I have seen 575Ms sell recently for $70k (accident damage) and $130K (extremely low milage, most options). For the 612, there is a big difference between the 05-07 standard, single disc clutch cars at $100-140K, and the 07 and later Sessantas and OTOs with the 599 twin plate clutch and gearbox case, which currently bring more money at $140K+.

Many of the low priced 599s are 07 models with steel brakes with few options and there seems to be a break between them and the 08 and later cars with standard CCMs and various upgrades. 07 599s here are now selling in the $170K+ range. I think that distinction will blur over time, as will the HGTEs.

So initially here, around $100K for the bottom end 612s, a bit more than the 575M initially, and around $150K for the bottom end 599s. Takes a while for $300-400K cars to settle down in price. Will be interesting to see what happens to 599 prices when the replacement comes out next year with a 700 hp DI V12. 599 GTO prices, too, if the 599 replacement is quicker.

I think 599 GTO prices are about to take a major hit. Know of a couple of owners who are trying to get out of their cars a head of the 599 replacement launch.

Long term I just don't see the 599 GTO being considered as being that special. SA Aperta more so but I would would put the 599 GTOs in the same category as the 16Ms.

I would prefer a 599 HGTE at half the price of a GTO - no way can a non pro driver tell the difference.

Seen a few factory produced 599 HGTE's trading at 250 - they were just shy of a 400k list price.

Doug- The best deal going is a 2008 that someone has updated to HGTE specs. There is an owner on FChat with a Silverstone car he is trying to sell. Very nice. Owner gets very little benefit out of such an upgrade at sales time, which works to our advantage.

You or I would be able to tell the difference between a GTO and an HGTE. Whether we would be any faster on a racetrack is another question.

An HGTE with GTO wheels and tires would work just fine for me. Not as pretty as our cars, but a whole lot faster.

Agreed - I really like the HGTE interior that completes the package.

Does the car you are referencing have bardeaux interior and luggage?

If so he started posting here and but haven't seem any recent activity.

If you don't recall his story and it's the guy I am thinking of - small world.

Anyway - there is also a 599 Novitec full upgrade that I have been kicking around.

Doug- Same car. Very nice. Great color combo.

For the Novitec car, I think the NF3 wheels are, next to the GTO wheels, the most attractive wheels out there, but I would not pay a dime extra for any of the Novitec add-ons. That car, with red paint and yellow calipers, is just beautiful. But I am partial to Rossa Corsa for some reason.

If you could get one of those two for normal 08 599 price ($180-200K), either would keep me happy for a long time.

Any idea which is a better package?

HGTE or Novitec - Novitec rear wheels are the widest wheels I have ever seen and appear wider than the GTO and hp is boosted 30 hp.

Dealer won't go below 225 but I think he is into it sub 200.

Doug- Here is what you get:

OEM Optional Wheels/Tires F 8Jx20, 245/35 20, R 11Jx20, 305/35 20
OEM HGTE Wheels/Tires F 8.5Jx20, 245/35 20, R 11Jx20, 305/35 20
Novitec Wheels/Tires F 9Jx20, 275/30 20, R 12.5Jx21, 355/25 21
OEM GTO Wheels/Tires F 9.5Jx 20 285/30 20, R 11.5Jx20, 315/30 20

The Novitec tires are P Zero Rossos, about two generations old, same as on my 575M. The GTO tires are Michelin Super Sports, latest and greatest from Michelin. Mulitple choices for the OEM/HGTE tires. Note you already have the optional 599 wheels (and tires?) on your HGTS.

Best performance: GTO wheels/tires by far.

Dealer has no clue on price. Make a firm offer and wait. The HGTE is a private owner with no overhead. Same strategy.

Got it - after Brian voiced his opinion about Pirelli it makes even more sense.

Still pining for the HGTE here is one of the reasons.
