Greetings, Does anyone know when brake caliper colors were offered as options during the production years of the 550 and 575? What colors were available? What was the cost of this option? Thanks in advance, Phil |

Philip- For 550s, it was around 1999/2000 when the Scaglietti options became available on the 550 and 456M. All the questions on the 575M are answered in the 575M Technical Thread, a sticky. In late Summer 03, Scuderia Rosso was added as a caliper color to the other colors. Welcome to Ferrari Life. Thanks Taz, I checked the sticky thread out also. I figured you would be the one to answer the question. I have black calipers on my 98 550 and I was thinking about switching them to yellow and I wondered if that would have been a possible combination from the factory. Sounds like it is close enough. Phil- Affirmative, they would look great, and black decals to match are easy to find on e-bay or the web. You need ones that are 3" long IIRC. The PPG paint code for the Modena Yellow on the calipers is PPG 84028. You can use regular two part (epoxy) auto paint, install the decals, and then coat with clear coat. No special high temperature paint required. The caliper below was painted with PPG 84028, but because of the larger caliper, used a 4" decal. 550 Brembo calipers are identical to 575M calipers except for one rear piston size. Externally, they are identical. | Taz That caliper looks great – that’s the look I want. I have a Nero/Cuoio 550 with shields and modular (18” OEM Barchetta) wheels. This will be my “Italian Muscle” car! I’m glad that you like the idea – I was a little afraid that it would be “too much” but – hey – this is a Ferrari!! Luckily, I am on the East Coast and I will have Bradan do the paint work. I will forward the technical information you have posted to Dan. Of course, these are the smaller calipers that fit inside the 18” wheel so the 3” decal is probably more suited. Thanks again! Phil |

Phil- Bradan has already changed colors on several Maranellos and will have no trouble doing yours. Black Maranellos with either red or yellow calipers look great. Of the two colors, I prefer the yellow on black cars, like you.
