2007 612. Looking for OBDII port. Can't find the normal port. Owner's manual has nothing. This is a US car. Inverted on my back, looked all over and around steering column and the passenger foot well area; nothing. Is the black rectangular port above the blue plug the OBDII port that may require some type of an proprietary adaptor? The standard OBDII plug is a trapezoid shape. Or, am ignorant and just haven't looked hard enough? I believe the green/yellow plug is for the Ferrari SD scanners, correct?

Jerry- That is the OBD II port just above the blue connector and it looks just like the one on my car that the emissions testing guys have had no problems using. That port is also used for hooking up the SD3 diagnostic tool, plus a few other cables. Here are photos from the Ferrari tech bulletin when they got in trouble with the EPA because only their connector/software would work when they intentionally left out a pin and connector. Looks like the one in Jan's Mercedes, too. The photos are from another Ferrari model. The emissions testing guy couldn't get his plug to fit. I took his word. The emissions guy said his trapezoid plug wouldn't fit the rectangular shaped port. I'll try again.

Jerry- I think i had the last couple of tests done at a Jiffy Lube. No problems there. I see what you mean by trapezoid connector. The male connector is slightly trapezoidal shaped, but should fit the 612, unless the other panel is too close. The OBD II photos I posted do show a trapezoidal shape. There has to be another connector in there somewhere. That part of my 612 WSM was still being developed. Should be near the steering column. Jerry- A little more research and what you really have in your photo is the Body Computer Unit (1 below), so I fouled that one up, and the connector next to it is indeed a connector for the SD3 to do analysis on that computer alone with a separate cable. You must have another, stand-alone connector in there. Keep looking. Jerry- More research and that connector is actually a single point connector for the SD3. See below. This is where the OBD II connector is on the 575M and the SD2 used that connector. See if you have one there. Jerry, I'm sure you've already researched and know this, but to conform with OBDII requirements, the port is supposed to be within 2' of the steering column or 3' of the driver. Could it possibly be hidden behind a blank, popout cover in the lower part of the dash? Or in the glovebox? Another requirement is that no tools are supposed to be required to access it '99 550, Rosso Corsa / Nero, S/N:114654, Assy: 31836, Engine: 52084 High mileage, low compression, and missing on a few cylinders.....just like my cars. |

I called James at Norwood's in Dallas and he informed me the SD-3 port serves as the same port as the OBDII. I borrowed an OBDII scanner and it reads the computer no problem. The scanner shows code P0442 Evap Emission System Leak Detection (small leak). I cleared the code. It also cleared the engine light. I'm assuming this is the well know gas cap issue. I always give the gas cap 3 or 4 clicks, but I guess she requires a little more. All is well. Thanks for your help.
