I have searched all the forums but there is no definitive explanation on how to adjust the door window regulators for a even tight fit. I am not in a position to send to US for repair as most forums contributors say (Naples F1 Imports). Can someone help with photos or drawings as to what is needed to sort the window problems? There is mention of replacing an aluminium spline with a SS pin Tig welded in place, additional information would be appreciated. My car is a 1995 456GT, in my case the regulators were replaced in 2001 and 2004, so I'm not sure it the later model regulators were modified when compared to the original regulators. Thanks in advance for the information. |

Steve- Here is a parts catalog drawing from Ricambi's online parts catalog. From what I have read, the fix involves replacing an aluminum pin, which bends, with a stainless steel replacement. The only pin I can see is the one which connects into the guide shoe, #21. Hopefully someone knows if that is what is being replaced or if it is another pin. Steve, if you contact F1 Imports in Naples, FL they may be willing to supply you with the stainless steel pins you need. As I recall they have them in stock as they had a supply of them already machined. Then it is just a matter of having them installed. F1 Imports: 239-430-2206 |

Thanks, I think this will be the best option. I have replaced all the plastic bushes and it has helped, now its just the last movement up, causes it to tilt forward a little. This must be caused by the wear in the aluminium spline. So I will replace the spline with the Stainless ones.

I Contacted F1 but they will not sell just the pins, does anyone have a photo of the refurbished window mech, as I will make and weld in new pins to replace the aluminium OEM ones. The cost and time to ship does not justify sending the complete window mechanism to the US.

I have taken this mechanism apart and adjusted it a few times on my 1995. The adjustment for the window effected by the wear in the mechanism is accomplished via two nut/bolt combinations, one of which is shown as item 48 in the drawing above - they engage the two slotted holes in the left portion of the picture below (note this is the reverse side of the drawing). This positions an aluminum guide. The adjustments for this are small and you will likely encounter a mechanism that is at the top of the adjustment range already. The source of the malaise with this mechanism is shown in the picture below, with the offending piece circled in red. This connection is indeed made of aluminum and it quickly gets loose, allowing the two arms to move independently, driving the assy out of adjustment. This is the part that is fixed, I assume, by F1. Don't know what they use, but it should not be that hard for a machine shop to replicate - just make sure they position the arms in the right spot. You can see someone went through a lot of trouble elongating some of the holes in a futile attempt to make the window go where the loose arm would not send it... |
