Just put together a document on batteries for Ferraris and could use some critique. Before anyone asks, I do not have Optima batteries on the list for this reason: Since Johnson Controls bought them (way back in 2000), and subsequently moved production to Mexico, quality does not seem to be as high as it was. Optima claims most of the failed batteries were just deep discharged, but since they cannot be recharged with most battery chargers after going below 10.5-10.0 volts, who cares? A dead battery an owner cannot recharge is just a dead battery.

| Taz, no critique here. Will comment with feedback. I chose to use the Braille after reviewing our options about 10 months ago. Although not a long test period, my car does sit for weeks or more at a time without use and without a charger. Never a hint of an issue. If someone prefers, the decals peel off very nicely for the look that you choose. They can be re-affixed. Most impressive was Braille's customer service. I price shopped and purchased from an online vendor. They shipped the wrong battery which arrived on a Friday afternoon. Attempted to contact the online vendor after 4:00 PM that day with no luck. I then called Braille. They shipped a second correct battery arriving Saturday morning, less than 18 hours later. Both Braille and I are located in Florida however, our conversation was late Friday afternoon and they did not wait for the wrong battery to be shipped. Left it for me to return the wrong one at my convenience and asked nothing in return. Thought this type of service was worth noting. Bill FL |

Bill- The Braille B7548 is even more powerful than the Odyssey 34R-1500PC at 945 CCA vs 880, and costs less, too. Nice to know both the AGM batteries, Odyssey, and Braille, are made in the US. Duram Plummer (Durametric) swears by Odyssey and it sounds like Braille has similar customer service. Braille sells batteries direct through their website and so does Odyssey. I do need to add waranty information for the Braille, I see. Taz, My 04 Spider had the original Fiamme battery until last month. It lasted 7 years! I got the MTP-91 on the recommendation of Gcalo. As he stated, it took a bit of manoeuvering to adjust the cross bar support to get it to fit the battery. Not difficult at all. But it is noticibly more powerful than the OEM. It came with a vent tube taped on top which directly connected to the factory vent. No mod necessary. Ordered it through my local mech, it was delivered next day. Too easy. David- My car had an MTP-91 when I bought it and it is still going strong over three years later. For $75 wholesale and $115 or so retail, they are a real bargain. On the 360 and F430, owners will have real problems without that vent hose. One F430 owner had all kinds of acid damage because he did not fit an Interstate vent hose. The OEM Ferrari VR760 hose does not fit.

Taz, The battery came with a vent tube, a small plastic elbow with one end oval shaped, the other round. The car's vent hose stretched enough to snuggly fit over the oval part of the elbow, and the round end of the elbow fit into the battery. I'll double check tonight, but while not an "exact" fit, it seemed to work just fine.

David- Thanks, that is new information for me. I knew the OEM tube would not fit the Interstate, but did not know there was another piece of hose below. I have seen those OEM hoses on E-Bay for around $6.
