Default 456M Scaglietti Schumacher Edition Options

Thought you might like to see the 456M Bicolore Scaglietti/Schumacher options that were included in the Scaglietti catalog in 2002.

Rik- The 456 had both Teves calipers and Brembo calipers, probably Brembo on the later cars, and 315x32 and 310x28 rotors, at least on the early cars, while the 456M had 330x32 and 310x28 rotors, same size as the Maranellos, and Brembo calipers only. It actually looks like all the 456/M/Maranello rotors are interchangeable, but you might need caliper adapters to put the bigger 330 mm rotors on the front of early cars with the 315 mm front rotors.

The parts catalogs show no commonality of calipers between the 456 GT, GTA, and 456M, but shows a common rotor for the front of the 456 GT and 456M, part number 165686, but it is not drilled. The rear rotors are common, too, part number 144061. Sounds like the 550/575M rotors might fit and they are drilled.

I could always lend you one if you wanted to see. I have the front calipers and rotors from my FHP 575M because I installed ceramic brakes. The whole set, with red calipers, might make a good upgrade after I get my rear brakes.

Thanks: Would there be an ECU consideration for the ABS?

Rik- You would not change the ABS unit. Your brakes are hydraulically boosted and that works with the ABS. The 456M and Maranellos are vacuum boosted. Not sure how that difference plays into the system, but too complicated and expensive to change. The ABS system does not care how big the rotors or calipers are, it just senses wheel lock up. If you change the OEM differential between the front and rear tires by more than 5% it may cause ABS malfunctions, but rotors and calipers should not affect ABS.

I saw one of these for sale recently ... looked great!

Can't recall the selling price but it seemed very low

The two-tone paint job strikes me as being a bit disjointed, at least where the two colors meet.

How does it look and work in the real world?

The real world photos I've seen seem to show a more subtle differentiation than represented in the brochures.

Everything you have heard is true.

Thanks for sharing ... I really like the special edition.

But I like everything that has a little extra tweaking - especially when Ferrari does it
