Default 612 shifting issues

For the last 6 months or so the 612 would drop into neutral when going from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 3rd.

Last week it was doing the same thing but in other gears.

Took it in and they said they cleared out a bunch of default codes.

The problem is fixed but the car now feels like it takes an extra long time to engage when at a stop to 1st gear - everything else is perfection including reverse.

I don't want to burn out a clutch because they did something incorrect it feels like the clutch pulls the car along for too long vs before it would quickly engage into first.

Yes - I tried both modes

Thoughts?

Doug- It sounds like they misset PIS (point of initial slippage) with the SD3. There are two ways to do PIS on late model Ferraris. One is to instruct the system to do an auto adjust of PIS and the other is to manually set a value with the SD3. I would take the car back to them and tell them what you are feeling and let them have another try at it.

Another hint on the F1A system on your car. Although there is a reverse and drive position on the F1 control panel, you are better off using the upshift paddle to select 1st gear than the little lever on the panel. That seems to preserve the operation of the panel better. Bloody things are expensive and you do not want to replace it. Earlier F1 cars like my 575M only have a reverse position.

In the future if you get minor glitches, you can try an ECU reset yourself and that will clear a lot of transient defaults in many ECUs, including the F1 ECU/TCU.

1) Disconnect the battery with the disconnect switch and wait overnight until the engine is full cold or at least 30 minute if the engine is already cold. Turn off all accessories to include air conditioning and radio.

2) Insert the key in the ignition and wait 30 seconds.

3) Turn the ignition to on and wait 30 seconds.

4) Start the car and let it idle for 10 minutes with no inputs whatsoever. After the 10 minutes you will have to reset the clock and insert the Becker radio code. Air conditioning can be turned back on.

5) Drive the car gently for 20 minutes as the Motronic ECUs complete their learning cycle.

I didn't know there was a drive position ... I read before you said use that device as little as possible.

Thanks Terry - going back in ... the guy was sorta a dick when I asked what they did for 580.00 ... go figure!

They said everything was calibrated - be back soon.

For fun may have to do what you posted - It sounds like what I used to do with my Dell Computer

Yept ... still think it engages / pulls into 1st slightly on the slow side but the other gears and downshifting are perfection.

Ghardt curious to see what you ended up with.
