[QUOTE=tazandjan;170345]I have to admit I love the Interstate Battery in my car.

Terry, I just had my Interstate Battery changed at the dealer.
How about this its been in the car since 2003 and worked perfectly, they could not believe it.
I called the last owner and asked when he last put a battery in...2003 just like they said !

cheers,

Bill

Bill- The MTP91 is a great battery. The one in my car is four years old at least and still working like new. The Maranellos appear to be pretty easy on batteries, for whatever reason. No much drain after shut-off, I guess. That is why I am careful to drive my car after opening the door. Opening the door turns on the F1 pump to pressurize the system, a fairly large drain.

One that lasted 9 years is spectacular. You outlasted the 85 month warranty.

Derek- Not that tough. Just writing down what I learned from everyone else. If it helps one person, it was worth the effort.

Default Black Trim on Maranellos and Other Ferraris

Dan at Bradan has found a better system for the black trim paint than the PPG code I documented earlier. Here she is.

212- Obviously, I did not know as much about Daytonas as I thought I did, but we have learned quite a bit about the Maranellos and Superamericas.

Every time I see something useful, I dump it on the hard drive. Then you just have to remember where it is.

When I was in the USAF, I wrote a good part of the technical manuals (-1, -2, -34) for the F-111. Guess old habits are hard to break.

Default Early Front 19" Mods Do Not Fit HGTC CCMs

When the 19" modular wheels were introduced in late 2001/early 2002 for the 575M, they were part numbers 188475 F and 188476 R, same widths as the 18" 550 and 575M wheels. In late summer/early fall of 2004, the 575M HGTC kit was introduced with huge six piston calipers and 398 mm rotors F and four piston calipers with 360 mm rotors R. These brakes were much larger than those fitted to either the CS or, optionally, the F430. The front brakes were so large, they would not fit into the 188475 front 8.5Jx19" wheels, although the smaller rear brakes fit the original rear wheels with no problem. So Ferrari made slight modifications to the front wheels to accomodate the larger brakes and reintroduced them as part number 210660. This wheel became the standard front modular wheel for late 575Ms and the Superamerica, regardless of whether the car had HGTC or not.

575 trivia for the lunatic fringe.

I recently replaced the Interstate battery on our 575M with an Optima. The Interstate had been in the car for 4 years and still worked OK, but I didn't want to take a chance. Beside - the Optima is red to match the car.

Bruce- Keep us informed on how she works. There have been some quality control issues with Optimas that hopefully are fixed. Crud, even Sony had quality control issues when they first started production in Mexico, but those got quickly fixed.

p1- Thanks. How about some photos? Introduce yourself down in member intros. Think I remember you from the other site.

Really nice option list and you have the steering position sensor package on your car. If she is an 04 car and built in November 04, she must be a Euro or RHD car. Which is she?

Mike- There will be a data plate on the port door inside rear panel showing date of production. I would guess somewhere around Spring 04. Will add her to the database tomorrow now that I know she is an "A" car for the US.

Very pretty car with all the good options available in 04, You even have the 50 years of Chinetti emblem instead of the crossed flags behind your ashtray. The rear glovebox is a relatively rare option.
