Hi all Did talk with the local dealer today, he told me he is getting a 200 model 550 Barchetta in next week. Well, I do like the 550 a lot. So, how is the Barchetta? How is the soft top? Is the cabin losing a lot of space with the soft top? How is noise? Yes, I do like the noise from the V12, but I also like it comfortable on long trips. Any other changes from the coupe? Vigo |

Don't even think about that soft top. Looks horrible and is practically useless. I have no idea why anyone would want to drive with it. The hardtop that someone made is pretty ugly too. I would just accept it as a car without a roof. The Barchetta is, for 99% of people, not a car for long trips. But I do know an owner who has been taking his all over Europe, in all sorts of weather, for 10 years. He doesn't use the soft top either. Personally I would have the coupe any day, for the type of driving I do. For a day trip the Barchetta is awesome, not for holidays. Apart from carbon fibre trim as standard and modular wheels, no changes from the coupe. All in all I don't think this car is worth the premium over de regular 550, even though the premium is now a lot less than it used to be. Onno |

Thanks. Yes, it does looks great,, with the top down. The idea of a open nFerrari is interesting, but if the top is unusable when up, no need for it. I mean, I need to have a roof also, rain and so. I intend to use my Ferrari, also in rain, and on holidays that is hard to get away from......... ...Thanks for helping me Onno Vigo |

The Barchetta is definitely made as a barchetta and as a day cruising barchetta it is very cool. But like Onno states, the soft top is not cool. In fact, the soft top is so ugly it's beyond description. I seriously doubt it would stay on at top speed. It is a very excentric car with a limited use. But you WILL look cool when you drive it, particularly in your sailing foul weather clothes in the rain!

Hello and thanks You are so right, with the soft top on, it looks stupid......ai ai ai...But, with the top gone, wooow A excentric, but at the same time cool. If theres no rain.....Yeah, guess a coupe is a lot more user-friendly. No matter how cool I look in a rain coat ![]() Vigo |

+3, the soft top is useless. This is a sunny day car only. The aftermarket hardtops are one of the ugliest things ever created. A 550 Barchetta is a great 3rd or 4th Ferrari.

The 550 Barchetta is very cool. High on my list of Ferraris to one day own but it is rather limited in usage possibilities. On the hard top, company in Germany. Like other user’s say (and was explained by Ferrari) the soft top was for emergency use only. (Max Speed 75 MPH) The Barchetta with the soft top installed doesn’t look so bad when you see them live. In photos effectively it’s not their best silhouette, but I think this is because the car without roof was amazing, but this is my opinion, I love the car with and without roof, Apart from appearance, in fact the soft top was not a 100 effective cover. I suspect than with rain some of that rain could get in cabin. The seal near windows does not inspire lots of confidence. I look for the soft top like a cover for park at night. For that proposal was a good solution. In my opinion it’s not difficult install them. Last edited by V12; 08-24-2010 at 09:29 AM. |

| Welcome to FL, V12. You must be located in a good location to be able to enjoy a 550 Barchetta. Where are you located ? A little off the topic, but last week I saw this 2001 550 Barchetta for sale in Tokyo (which is unusual to see this car in Japan, but there are few around). I happened to come across the ad and it caught my eyes because the asking price was unreasonably low. I saw the ad today and it was sold already. w/ smiles Jimmy |

There is something strange with that car. I think have one of the available aftermarket electric roof. |

il Capolino Hi, thanks. But, sorry to say, just over my budget....... , it is nice. I was there some days ago, did look at some 575......But, all with F1, and the F1 do not like me so much. Or is it??Maybe give a newer and more modern F1 gear a test.. Vigo |
