Speaking as a 550 owner - I have not heard that description before and I can't imagine what it would refer to. Onno |

The plastic Ferrari has used seems to degrade a bit in the atmosphere. So in some cases the panels become gooey and sticky and messy. There are a few fixes and there's a person in MD, Robbie, who has a service to refinish them. He can guide you how to safely remove them. I'll have to find his link. BTW it's not limited to just 550's. It's all Ferrari's with plastic panels but not all degarde. depends upon where you live mostly. |

| Sound like a similar condition to the issue on many F355s. There is an article on it in the last issue of FLQ.

It's applicable to many Ferrari models but strangely I don't hear of anyone in Europe complaining of this. So I wonder if it is unique to the toxins in our environment! It reminds me of the valve guide problems with the 355's. It seems the problem was unique to the US due to the gas formulations here. I don't know if this is valid though. |

That could be except that there is considerable degradation of more than just the surface. The effort required to remove it may be evidence of the extent of the degrade. |

Hard to know exactly the cause but it just seems there's more of it here in the US. That's not a scientific conclusion. |

| I would think so, Gcalo. Number of years back, I owned a 1997 F355 manual for three years and if I recall, I noticed the start of the gummy process, at least the early stage of it. The car was wonderful, not to mention the sound, but then ...it dawned on me that something was lacking, or maybe I was the one lacking something. Let her go and got a Dino. w/ smiles Jimmy

| Right, Dinos' switches don't go gummy, so you're immune with that car. Actually, the gummy switches look more like they have coca cola all over them, so you may want to call them coky rather than gummy.

I hear it's raining where you are. It's 97 here in CA where I am, and I am sick of it. Was 36% humidity yesterday from a tropical storm off Mexico, and we were dying! |
